Okay... so I totally hijacked the Spring 09 hopefuls thread. But, it was a good idea.;)

This thread is for those of us that are aiming to start NS in Fall 09. Hopefully, we can keep this thread alive over the next year through all the craziness of pre-reqs, applying, and preparing for nursing school.

CAN'T HELP but to point out that almost everyone here has a 3.7 or higher GPA. Congrats to all for keeping up that average ..I know its not easy. All the best in NS acceptance:w00t:

Well, I'm slowly getting there. I'm in at the community college; I did orientation, placement testing, and my transcripts are on their way. Tomorrow I meet with an advisor (I only want to take two classes--chem and either anatomy or nutrition, but still have to sit down with an advisor). I should start classes Thursday, depending on what my schedule looks like. I'm hoping to do both classes mostly on-line.

I'm really excited!

This is my section!!!

I am going to Otero Junior College for the nursing program

my GPA has suffered (I lost my daughter to drugs a year ago) and is now 3.13

I have one more semester of pre-reqs, APII, and that is that.

Plan ABC? Same, Same, Same

Its is so great when you can atlast see progress being made.

I agree with you, 2bnurse-1: it's simply AMAZING that every poster on this thread has a really high GPA, and such a coincidence, too!

Where are you applying? Grand Canyon University (AZ), Arizona State University, All Maricopa County Community Colleges

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? I don't really have a "school of choice" I'll attend the first one that accepts me. But two of the above schools take cummulative GPA, the other takes certain courses and calculates a "select" GPA. Sooo.... 3.5/3.73 respectively.

When is your schools deadline? July 1st for Spring/Sept 15th for Spring

When does the acceptance letters go out? Late Sept-Oct/ & Not sure

What is your plan A, B, C...? Keep trying! Our community colleges have about a 2 year wait list, so that might be my best bet. The two universities are SUPER competitive. I'm giving it two solid years of applying until I try branching out to a different field while still trying to stay medical related.

All of the schools I've talked to here also require the NET (Nursing Entrance Test) & although they give minimum score requirements, it is nowhere near what an aspiring nursing student will need to get in. Just like the min GPA requirements are listed as 2.75 HA! That's funny they can even publish that!

Anyone else have waitlists for the schools in their state? How are you dealing with it?

Where are you applying? Texas Woman's University or Texas Christian University

What is your GPA? Right now I'm at a 3.7, but if I finish out everything else the way I would like I should be at a 3.8 by the time I apply.

When is your school's deadline? February 1st for the Fall

When do acceptance letter's go out? Middle of April

What is your plan A, B, C? Well actually this is my plan B. I originally started on here a year ago looking to pursue an ADN program and be starting this fall. But a lot of things changed and I'm now going for my BSN! I'm very excited though, I don't feel like it is an wasted effort. I felt as if I was meant to do this from the jump. So after my BS, I plan on doing my master's to become a CRNA. So this is def only the beginning. :D

Where are you applying? La Salle University

What is your GPA? 2.88 right now but all of my sciences are high B. will have that 3.3 after fall semester.

When is your school's deadline? on going i think

When do acceptance letter's go out? dont know

What is your plan A, B, C? i dont have a plan B or C yet.... i am attending CCP and am enrolled for the transfer program with La Salle. so hopefully i wont need to really worry about anything else... i will find out when i meet with the counselors to make sure that i am on track... :yeah: otherwise i will have to transfer to temple university...:zzzzz

only to the Yale NP program beccause they have no prereqs =)

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?

I have a BA in psych and my undergrad GPA is a 2.7 (BOOO!!!).. i went to a pretty competitive undergrad so I hope they take that into consideration... so far my postgrad GPA is 3.85

When is your schools deadline?

Nov 1st. I'm aiming to get everything in by Oct

When does the acceptance letters go out?

Feb I think

What is your plan A, B, C...?

Apply to more schools after I've completed more prereqs.

Where are you applying? University of Tennessee Health Science Center- MSN Directy- Entry (CNL) (16 months)

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? I already have a B.A. and a M.S. and my GPA for both was a 3.9. I'm taking A&P 1 now, A&P 2 and Micro in the Spring and Stats in June. I don't have to have them completed by the deadline, just by the start date- July 6.

When is your schools deadline? January 15

When does the acceptance letters go out? March

What is your plan A, B, C...? Apply for an accelerated 12 month BSN program that starts in Jan 2010.

I really want to get into this program, but the direct entry MSN is brand new, so I have no idea how competitive it will be! I'm nervous about how I'll pay for it though, I have a mortgage and bills now and I work full time.

So, how is everyone doing so far this semester?

I had my first micro test on Thursday and I am pretty sure that I got an A or maybe a high B. We completed our gram stain and I got an A.

So far in A&P 2 we have had 3 quizzes and I got a 110, 100, and then a 90. We have our first lecture test Tuesday and our lab practical on Thursday. I am planning to study this weekend but right now I am sick as a dog with a horrible cold. Hopefully, I will be more with it tomorrow or Sunday.

Congrats txnursingqt! Hope you feel better soon. We took our first Anatomy lab exam and lecture exam and I got a 93 and 96...yay! Our next lab test is next Wed on bones so I need to STUDY!!
