Fall 09 hopefuls?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Okay... so I totally hijacked the Spring 09 hopefuls thread. But, it was a good idea.;)

This thread is for those of us that are aiming to start NS in Fall 09. Hopefully, we can keep this thread alive over the next year through all the craziness of pre-reqs, applying, and preparing for nursing school.

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S ONLY ONE YEAR AWAY!!!!

Anywho...

Where are you applying?

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?

When is your schools deadline?

When does the acceptance letters go out?

What is your plan A, B, C...?

1. I'm applying to Belmont University. Maybe TSU too, but Belmont is my absolute top choice.

2. I actually haven't started my pre-reqs yet (1.5 weeks, I'm getting nervous!) but I got a 3.5 in my first BA....So hopefully I'll improve ;) Belmont requires atleast a 3.0 in math and science classes to get in.

3. Rolling. So I'm applying once I finish my fall pre-reqs.

4. I guess 6 weeks after I submit everything.

5. This is actually my plan B- my original plan was to teach in Japan for awhile, which fell through-- so honestly if this doesn't work out, I don't what I'll do. Cry alot, I guess. Then just go somewhere else.

Specializes in 2 years as CNA.

Hiya Everyone!!

I am applying to Grayson County College. (I have to thank everyone on here because I had heard nothing but negative stuff about Grayson until I got on here and did further research and now I am happy with deciding on Grayson!!)

Anyway....there system is based on points and not GPA. You can get a total of 30 points and the Program Coordinator told me that in the last few years most people got accepted in the 21-23 point range. If I just make a B in both A&P 2 and Micro then I would have 23 points, but I am hoping for more!!!

The deadline is in March 2009 and I have no idea when letters go out.

Right now I don't have a plan B. I am pretty confident that I will get in and if not then I might apply to the LVN program then bridge over to get my RN. I am flexible but hopefully it won't come to that.

Good luck to everyone. I am already anxious and can't wait until next spring to hear everyone's news!!!!! :yeah:

where are you applying? navarro college = corsicana, tx

what is your gpa and/or points for your school of choice? currently 2.9 but will go up soon1

when is your schools deadline? march 09

when does the acceptance letters go out? not sure!

Christina, I am also attending NVCC, hoping to get into 09, I am considering applying for their online program.

About the HESI, I just took it, it is not scarey at all, just use the study guide and you will be golden. I got a 92% overall, my lowest score in Vocab was an 88. I would say, that the math from the study guide and the vocab are the most important areas to study. Be sure to know your conversion charts. The school reccomends taking it as soon as possible, and I agree because you need plenty of time to study and retake if necessary.

Good luck! see you in the Virginia forum.

Where are you applying? I am applying to the University of South Carolina BSN.

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? My current GPA is 3.8. I only have my lower division nursing classes to finish and one chemistry class. I am aiming for a 4.0 this semster. I hope it will boost my GPA some. The average GPA the school accepted last year was 3.5. The school only goes off of GPA.

When is your schools deadline? The schools deadline is January 15.

When do the acceptance letters go out? The letters should go out by sometime in March.

What is your plan A, B, C...? Honestly I don't have a plan B. This my hope because I really want to get my BSN now instead of my ADN because I want to go on and finish my Masters soon after.

Specializes in ICU.

Where are you applying? I am applying to a community college in NC for my ADN

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? Right now - 4.0. My school does points for admittance but I honestly have no idea how many I have. I know I have done all the pre-reqs and gotten A's in them, so I'm hoping its enough.

When is your schools deadline? Mid-November I believe, but they accept the grades for classes taken this fall as part of the application.

When do the acceptance letters go out? Mid-February (it feels like an eternity away!)

What is your plan A, B, C...? No plan B - just try again the following year and take a few classes in the mean time! :nurse:

Where are you applying? I am applying to the University of Southern Mississippi.

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice? My GPA right now is 3.8

When is your schools deadline? March 1st.

When do the acceptance letters go out? Not really sure.

What is your plan A, B, C...? I don't really have another plan. I really hope I get accepted!!

Hey fellow hopefuls! :heartbeat

I have already been accepted to a local community college in my hometown. The reason I am still just a "hopeful" for fall of 09 is because I am on the waiting list with an expected start date of fall of 2010 but have been told I have a good chance of moving up so I'm PRAYING I will start next year!!!! :yeah: My GPA is 4.0 and for the time being I don't have a plan B.....

Good luck to all of us!!!!!

If I don't get in for Spring 2009, I'll be applying to several California universities for Fall 2009, and don't expect to have a problem getting in there as long as I don't screw up Organic Chemistry too bad and they don't raise their admission standards much from this year. My TEAS score is good and really makes up for my less than perfect GPA, but the CC programs I'm applying to for Spring 09 don't seem to take the score into account as long as you get a passing grade! :banghead:

Specializes in Labor and Delivery.

Where are you applying?

My first round is fall apps, then another round for spring. These are the ones I'm worrying about for fall so far:

UPenn, Hopkins, NYU, MGH, Northeastern. I'm also considering some in Chicago and on the west coast, because I'd like a break from the northeast!

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?

My Prereq GPA is a 4.0. My undergrad is just shy of a 3.0.

When is your schools deadline?

Earliest is Oct. 15, latest is February 1.

When does the acceptance letters go out?

It varies.

What is your plan A, B, C...?

A. Work out who's writing my recommendations

B. Write the essays

C. Apply!

D. Finish my prereqs this semester (Chemistry I, nutrition) and next semester (Chem II, Human Growth & Dev, any school-specific courses)

I don't know about you, but this is extremely stressful, trying to do all this stuff while working and taking classes. It's great if we can support one another through this grueling process.

Where are you applying?

GA Highlands, Dalton State, Chattahoochee Tech, KSU, Georgia State, West Georgia, GA Baptist, Emory, Athens Tech, and Clayton State...maybe more

What is your GPA and/or points for your school of choice?

Not 100% sure yet...depends on the school since they all require different classes and I've still got to finish Micro and the Chems...right now it's hovering around a 3.6 I think

When is your schools deadline?

In all honesty, they're so different that I haven't the foggiest...I know one is coming up here in about a month or so and the rest seem to be scattered throughout the winter of 2008 and early spring of 2009

When does the acceptance letters go out?

Yet again, I haven't the foggiest...I should probably be more on top of things:confused:

What is your plan A, B, C...?

Cry:bluecry1:...and maybe go to LPN school or EMT/Paramedic school if I can get in
