ok so here is my dilemma - After reviewing the grading policy (below) states that any core classes that are rewarded a "D" is considered as failing and require retake:
A = 90-100%
B = 80-89%
C = 70-79%
D = 60-69%
F = 59% or below
I took Reproductive Health with EC online and received a 69.28%!! I called the school and was advised that I have to re-take the entire course because i am .72% short from a "C" which is passing. I think its ridiculous, I can't afford to pay another $1500.00 (approx.) for the course, the instructor is not responding to any of my emails (i guess because class is over) and I don't want to cause problems for myself if I appeal (retaliation) - anyone have any advise?
thanks
Here's the thing. I personally keep track of my grades during the entire semester. If I saw myself trending for anything lower than a B, THAT'S when I would begin reaching out to my instructor to improve my grade, not waiting until class was over. You should not be surprised that you were close to failing, unless you were at a C and failed miserably at the final.
So as all others have said, no, you do not have grounds for an appeal. Unfortunately you are going to have to retake it and learn from your experience this time around.

How did you not realize the grading policy until the semester was over? That's on you. You knew from your test grades that you weren't making Great grades so it should come as no surprise that you failed.
Appealing because you aren't getting your way will only hurt you. You failed. This site has thousands of posts about people failing classes and having to retake them. (And some by a lot less than what you failed by). Suck it up, re-take the class, and learn to manage your grades better.

You didn't just fail by ".72%....you most likely failed by quite a few questions. What you didn't state is how many total points were available in the class. Look at the total number of points that could have been earned ...not just what you earned...and you should be able to figure out how many questions you actually got wrong in the course (i.e. 50, 100, more?)...
So you can appeal if you like...what do you think you're chances are of getting 50-100+ questions "tossed out"? My guess....less than 0.72%
You failed, there's nothing to appeal so that's on you. I wouldn't waste your time or energy because, you missed it by more than just a question or two so they aren't going to change your grade. Most nursing courses require an 80% to pass so they're actually letting you off easy. Study harder next time so you won't have to pay for the class again
I taught in a BSN program. Students would argue about "failing by less then one point" when in fact it was perhaps as noted above it was 100 points or more. Final grades are percentages for the whole course. If there were 1000 possible points, the OP only earned 698.2 points missing 301 points, NOT 0.72 point.

My advice regarding nursing school grades: Panic early and often.
You should have taken action the very first time you got less than an 80% on a quiz or exam.
If you are not getting a solid, mid-range B, then something is wrong on your end. I suggest you seriously assess yourself. Are you doing the reading? Are understanding the reading? Can you explain the core concepts to other people? How much time are you really spending on studying? What is stopping you from mastering the course content?
