So, I just found out that we will be wearing white uniforms next semester....white scrubs to be exact. Anyone else have to wear white? Normally I wouldn't mind, but I am the type of person that spills something on themselves everytime they wear white. In fact, last time I wore white pants (5+ years ago) I just happened to sit on a chocolate cupcake. No joke.

I guess I will just have to buy like 5 pairs incase I get some sort of lethal permanent cupcake stain.

I like white! Just not ALL white. Anyone have anything worse to make me feel better?

We had the "carabean blue" they were ugly and didn't hide any stains at all! expecially when I left a half eaten Lindt's chocolate (in the wrapper of course) in my front pocket. I still get razzed about it

I will also being wearing the dreaded all white scrubs again this semester. Not only is it plain ugly, but it makes you stand out like a sore thumb, and look like a big marshmallow. We all hate it but what can we do. This will be my last semester in white and I'm so happy!

In an earlier post here I said that I didn't feel much like a nurse in my all white uniform with the teal trim. I felt more like an orderly.

But for graduation we are expected to wear all white and the students usually go with white dresses because we have to wear the nurses cap. That I don't mind. In fact I look forward to wearing the white dress with the nurses cap. I will feel like a real nurse then :)

Coming from 20 years of facing the task of walking from one end of of a crowded carrier to another in polyester whites, where every surface seemed to be covered with a thin film of grease, wearing Dove's all whites in clinicals is still a challenge but manageable.

Scotchguard works for me. The only problem was that I threw away all my white skivies when I retired. I ended up having to buy a set just for clinicals.

At least you get to wear scrubs! Our clinical had to wear white UNIFORMS! No scrubs! I never realized there was a difference until I went to buy my first set! I would MUCH rather wear scrubs!!! I am also the biggest klutz I know. Well I spilled something on me everytime! Buy you one of those bleach pens! They work WONDERS!!! The tide are ok but the bleach works alot better. Not only did I spill stuff on me but 4 different times i started when i wasn't even suppose to... ON CLINICAL DAY... so if your as bad as me... prepare yourself!

RNn08 I totally know what you mean. We have white dove uniforms. At least scrubs would be better! The school is changing their uniforms and the next starting class will get to wear white scrubs.

We wear white uniforms at my school also. I was upset at first but now it's like I'm proud to wear it. Scrubs would have been more comfortable but the ones we have is like cardboard almost. I have 8 months left to wear white now so I don't even think about it.

Our uniforms have to be all white too except they have a wide teal trim on the arms so we can't bleach them!

Sometimes I really wonder if they do this on purpose. Our uniforms are completely white but we have patches sewn on the arms so they can't be bleached either.

I am a total slob/klutz/accident-prone person and I pretty much spill or ruin in some way every article of clothing that I own. I do keep a Tide pen in my purse at all times. I never thought about the baby wipes thing but I will have to give it a shot. It makes sense! I did know about the peroxide though and it works great for getting fresh blood stains out. Found this out when I was doing HCA. I worry a little about spilling or getting something on my uniform and not being able to clean it but I do love the white uniforms. I think the white looks really professional. I like our uniforms to be honest!

I would not be opposed to wearing white or a cap for that matter. I think it shows respect and tradition in the profession.

This may be sharing too much, but just chalk it up to a helpful hint and overlook me, LOL!

Do remember to wear white panties. Most of mine aren't white, so I make a point to lay white ones out next to all of my stuff for clinical mornings because I did have a clinical mate who totally forgot and had on red undies that were very obvious everytime she bent over to do anything. :roll

Or even better wear nude/tan underwear (bra and panties). Someone told me to "Try a tan bra b/c it will match you skin!" I thought to myself, DUH and went and bought me a tan bra and have been wearing tan under white every since and it is less visible than white under white.

BTW - We have to wear teal green scrub tops, white pants, white jacket and white shoes (but they can have a little color on them).

Instead of ironing the patches on I used Velcro and sewed it on and put one on my patch and don't have to worry about it in the wash, and can bleach my whites.

A bit of info though, if you bleach the whites and dry in the dryer they will turn a dingy yellow. So be careful of this.
