Apr 1, 201511 yr Admin mine does not.Not a paid holiday at our hospital.Same here. The holidays recognized by my facility are New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. What your facility considers holidays should be spelled out in its employee handbook and/or policies.
Apr 1, 201511 yr Easter is a religious holiday. With most employers (not just healthcare ones) looking to decrease benefits, most are going to the federally-recognized ones only.
Apr 1, 201511 yr It falls on a weekend, so the chances of it getting extra pay is almost nil anyway. No extra pay here.
Apr 1, 201511 yr I don't get the difference between Easter and Christmas-seems to me you can't recognize one and not the other, they are both religious holidays....

Apr 1, 201511 yr Admin I don't get the difference between Easter and Christmas-seems to me you can't recognize one and not the other, they are both religious holidays....But only one is recognized by the government (whole other issue there) and only occasionally falls on a weekend. Easter is always on a weekend. Plus, Easter is primarily celebrated by those of Christian faith. Christmas has become quite de-religisized (spell check recognizes that? I didn't make it up?) and is celebrated by those of no faith, agnostics, and pretty much anyone who wants to.My facility: Holiday on a weekend? No holiday pay. The holiday pay comes either Friday if the holiday is Saturday or Monday if the holiday is Sunday. Which irritates those who work the actual holiday but not the designated holiday for the pay.
Apr 2, 201511 yr I've never known anywhere to pay holiday pay for Easter. While Christmas is also a religious holiday, it's recognized as a federal holiday. Easter isn't. It didn't count as anything as far as a holiday was concerned when I worked in the hospital. Those who were scheduled for that weekend worked it, didn't matter how many holidays you'd already worked this year or if you'd worked Easter in years past. Just another Sunday in the hospital world. The only holidays that counted as holidays worked were Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day for summer and Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and New Year's Day for winter. We had other paid holidays (MLK Jr Day, Presidents' Day, Patriots Day, Veterans' Day) but it was never a problem to find people to work those days for time and a half so a big deal wasn't made about them either.
