Drexel ACE Fall 2010

Has anyone heard back from for the fall 2010 class? My husband attended the info session for me a few weeks ago (he works in Philly and I had to work late), and he loved the school. On their website it says you have to have 7 pre-reqs completed prior to applying, but then it says they will not review transcripts until after you are accepted. Does anyone have any info on this?

Specializes in ICU / PCU / Telemetry / Oncology.

Can anyone tell me how long after acceptance did evaluate your transcripts and let you know which of your prereqs were approved for transfer and which ones you still had to complete? I am hoping it's fairly quick, timely in case there is a need to register for future coursework. Thanks!

I want to say it took about 2 weeks for me to get my transcript evaluation. I thought I'd have a problem with my nutrition class and my human development since my nutrition class was only 3 credits and the human development class wasn't in the psych department. The accepted both though. However, they did not accept my sociology, but I can understand that since it was an upper level sociology class that was more specific. Hope that helps!

You are very welcome! Well, primarily price. I found that places that were just outside of philly were much more affordable for myself and my boyfriend. Also, we're not too much "city people" and wanted a place that wasn't right in the middle of everything. We got very lucky though because the apartment we found actually has a Septa train stop a minute's walk away, and from there its about a 30-40 minute train ride! Good luck with your apartment search :)

Hey Cheesetoe,

Do you mind PM'ing me info on your apartment?

I'l be starting in the Spring of 2011, but I want to get my apartment at least squared away now as I will be travelling August-December and moving up to Philly in Jan.

Thanks.

If anyone knows and would like to share other buildings they have found, let me know.

septa is our regional transit system: system map college is located near the middle suburban station so looking at map will give you an idea how far out you want to live when choosing apartments.

desiring to live near main campus /upenn area, university city associates has market on most apartments in college area.

To those in the program now, or graduates, were there a lot of required presentations?

If you are talking about get dressed up, have slides, that kind of presentation, then no. There were MAYBE 4-5 presentations total, if memory serves.

How many guys are in the program on average?

Hi! I'm also starting the ACE program this Fall. I recently received an e-mail in regards to the uniform requirements and was wondering if any past grads had advice on how many scrub tops and bottoms we need? How many days a week are we in a hospital? I don't want to order more than I need - but at the same time I definitely don't want to not have enough! Is one lab coat enough? It seems like something silly to ask... but I'm just not sure!

Thanks!

One lab coat is plenty- you use it if you are cold and some folks wore the alb coat with business casual for mental health and community clinicals. I got 2 scrub bottoms and 2 scrub tops and that has been plenty. If you're a stress eater...make sure to buy up a size. My scrubs are fitting a little snug (and I managed to outgrow my scrub bottoms) at this point in the program (1/2 way through 4th quarter!) and I think I can blame the dryer for shrinking them only *so* much.

It seems like there are way to many group projects, but I've had to stand up in front of the class to present only a couple of times, and most of those times it's because I volunteered to be the group spokesperson.

Thanks for the info - I was going to buy more than that - so I'm glad I asked! What areas of the hospitals are the clinicals in? I thought I had read somewhere that we had a geriatric, pediatric and two adult assignments, but 's just redone their website and I can't find it now! Do they break them up something like that? I can't believe I'm starting in less than 2 months... I'm starting to get anxious/nervous!!!

Does anyone know how many people apply and how many are accepted??

Hi everyone,

I've been reading tons of posts about this program and it really helps a lot so thanks to you all. I wanted to know if anyone here graduated from Penn State or took prereqs there because I am wondering about the developmental psych prereq.

Also, for people who are starting this fall, how early did you apply? I just applied, I know I am jumping the gun a bit but I'm worried I won't get in because my cumulative GPA is only 2.84 but I have a 3.3 in the last 60 credits.
