Hi everyone:
I just wanted to start a fun thread for once (mine are usually venting about my job hehe)...
I'm curious... What would your dream job be if you weren't an RN?
I'll go first: I'd love to own a little boutique by the beach or in a city. I love the idea of owning my own business and I think it would be fun!
anyone else have a dream job? :)
I had always been interested in crime, criminals, the law and forensics. Since I was 16 I have always wanted to be a forensic psychologist. I got accepted to the renowned John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I had received my under grad in Criminology and I was just accepted to John Jays Grad program when I had to have brain stem surgery and had to take a leave of absence to recover. I was in the hospital for a week recovering and I was in and out of the hospital for weeks for various things like swelling of my brain stem, a blood clot, infection of the incision and various other things.
The doctors and especially the nurses were phenomenal in managing my pain and keeping me comfortable, sitting and watching TV in my room in the wee hours (when I had a private room and it was slow, which it usually was at 3am). The nurses were so great to me, I decided to go into nursing to help patients like I was helped and cared for.
After I recovered(I still have chronic pain) but I was still able to go back to school and I ended up changing my major from forensic psychology and I went to nursing school and worked my tail off to become a licensed clinical nurse.I love my job and wouldn't change it for world. I like to pay it forward because of all of the nurses that helped (and do help me) to this day.
I always wanted to be an actress- preferably on a soap opera. It's been my dream since I was a little kid and watched As The World Turns with my mother. When I was in middle/high school I did a lot of acting in school plays, but began pursuing a more realistic career. I think I love nursing more than acting, though.Or I'd want to be a zoologist who raises the baby animals at the zoo. Or a dolphin trainer. That would be pretty epic.
That is so neat how similar our interests are!
For me, it's
1) Actress (wish I had pursued this more in high school and college - I guess there is still time.....)
2) Working with dolphins and stingrays (not in the wild) (It's so interesting how some of you mentioned dolphin trainer! :))

I would manage a bookstore. One that has a coffee shop inside. I love to read and learn new things.
