I recently went through a similiar experience except it was with a different aspect of nursing, basically I was blindsided by my manager telling me I could no longer be in the ED. I felt very violated and took it a step further. I met with the director and explained my situation about my orientation. My end result was a offer to a full-time position to another campus that I start in 2 weeks. I would recommend that if you feel that you weren't given a fair chance and there is no consisent documentation, meet with someone higher and explain your situation. Otherwise suck it up and move on

I can honestly say this is one of the most awesome post I have read... I have been feeling this exact same way for almost a year. I have been so fed up with the profession that I have decided it would be better to further my education. PPL always say to me "thats great your a nurse" HAHA! you don't understnad half the crap I go through. Seriously I make a great living on what I do and Ill tell ya the truth, I still feel that 60K a year isn't enough to deal with ppl BS...

Being a severant to the ill, I know it sounds good but its how I feel lately about the career path I've chosen...

It technically considered assault, exspecially if someone hit you with something. I have had a fellow RN file charges with a local police department towards a patient for hitting her with a remote. From what I understand it was sent to court. What I don't understand about Nursing is that we deal with so much BS and get nothing for it in return. Other thing I have done exspecially when a patient gets out of hand is called a code gray, and in one incrident everytime that patient acted up I kept calling it until the IOC actually did something. I refuse to hurt myself for idiots. I have no tolerance any long for ppl who continually make bad choice in their lifes, and I have no sympathy for them at all.

Hello All, I have a little bit of dilemma and could use some feed back.. I currently have a full time position at a facility that I am beginning to get burn out at. So many things have happened that I feel its time for a change and a new start. I work on a step down unit but I really wanna get into the ER but not a my facility. I have had 2 interviews for 2 different ER positions. One I work for per diem for the hospital and interviewed and found at the interview that position I was applying for was part-time unknown to my knowledge. I went back for the second interview and I stressed to the recruiter that I need full-time benefits. Anyway I have recently found out that I would be able to work full-time but they can not "budget" for full-time benefits and I really enjoyed meeting the managers when I interviewed and feel I could be happy at that facility... this only one part of the story. The second interview is for a full-time position for a training program at another hospital for the ER, I have had 2 interviews and have called several time to find out if the position has been filled and its suppose to start in JULY!!! (I was thinking about sending another follow-up email to the manager again to stress my interest in the position) I keep getting the answer that they are still interviewing and no final decision have been made SOOOO AGGRAVTED!!!! So my whole point is that I can't keep the other job offer pending much longer but at the same time I am really OVER the facility I work for so do I settle for a part time vs a full-time position that I am currently miserable in????... I don't know if should hold out or just accept the offer from the other facility or just stay where I'm at and keep searching??? What do you think?? I did forget to mention both places I have interviewed are magnet and the place I work is not... but that doesn't overall effect my decision but its nice to know!! Thanks a bunch!

Thank you everyone for your replies... in the end my boyfriend decided not to take the job offer and let me tell ya it been a little hard to deal with because I really miss TN... but it was for the better... at least I hope

With the type of work we put ourselves through... why would any nurse be willing to accept 35000 basis as a stating salary... My boyfriend is possibly taking a job down there and this alone drove me away from Vanderbuilt when they told me I would only make 20.50 an hour that is horrible to my profession.... I make 29.50 an hour as a new grad.... Its an insult to nurses everywhere!

Currently I reside in NJ, my boyfriend got a significant job offer to move to New Johnsonville TN. I have spoken with the recruiter at Vandy (vanderbuilt) in nashville... I was quite surprised to hear that I would be making signicantly less money then what I make in NJ. I currently make 55000 as a new grad with 1 year experience. I was told that I would be making 20 dollars an hour which is almost 15000 less then what I make now per year... WHat I am wondering is there any "northerners" that have made that kind of move and do you find yourself struggling to make money??? What do you think about living around the nashville area... any kind of comments would really help... If anyone knows of any hospitals in the nashville area that pay better I would really like to know... otherwise agency might be my best choice
