Don't you hate the arrogant students?

Nursing Students General Students

Today was the nurse orientation. Some of the students in the orientation came off as very arrogant to me. The funny thing about it, is that I did not see them as special or better. To tell you the truth, I do not even find them attractive. They were looking at me like I was inferior or something. WTF? The women there were not even attractive and judging from how they acted, I would not even date them. The cool students and the good looking students did not come off that way as they did. I hate those arrogant students. They should get a reality check.:angryfire

How old are you? That sounded like something I'd hear in high school.

Newsflash: there is a lot more to be arrogant about than just one's looks. In fact, I can understand and often appreciate arrogance. It's often there for a reason. Many brilliant people I know are arrogant. But to be arrogant about your physical appearance is just pretty stupid.

I think it is a defense mechanism due to lack of confidence. Also, some nurses put them on the defensive by asking "why did you do it that way" and "what is your rational for this". I also believe it is our job to serve as positive role models so they will learn how to act appropriately. It is scary being new.

I never go by first impressions, nor do I go by the second or third. You have to truly get to know someone before you can really know what they are all about. Remember that. Some of those "arrogant" people could end up being your best friends:)I learned that a few years ago.

Were you intending on choosing one to date, and let down once you saw them? :chuckle QUOTE]

whoooooooot! :rotfl:

where is your head???

sorry, couldn't resist.

good luck w/ your new "family", think of it like intensive role-playing psychotherapy.....hmmm....that's aunt judy, oh and that's uncle joe and hey that's the creep who put gum in my hair in 4th grade.....

wherever you go....there you are :)

I usually don't have a problem with the elitists.. since I usually am one.

I'm with klone, now is a good time to get over the "small time" issues, like "good looking" and "cool" and get down to the business of learning about caring for people who will often be far from "good looking" and "cool", with other nurses who will hopefully not care about any of that teenage world stuff.

Maybe the arrogant ones are the serious ones, who don't really care about looking good or being cool, but doing well, or paying attention to what they're listening to. I think this forum is full of people who are mature, hard-working and interested in doing the right thing in a tough profession, and this is kind of a minor issue, in many of our eyes.

I'm sorry, but I think the OP needs to grow up a little before trying to become a nurse.......... :stone

Very well said truly blessed. My thoughts exactly!

with you Cat, klone, ect. :)

I have had other students get really angry at me because I break the curve and they get a lower grade! Hey...not my fault. And I always turn my papers over when I get my grade. They just assume I am the one (which is true).

Also, I have had other students get mad at me because I ask questions and they actually have to stay the whole 2 hours of class!!
