Fill in the blank with any advice you can give students who have just been accepted into a program or who are thinking about embarking on the journey of nursing school.
Here's mine:
DON'T GO INTO NURSING SCHOOL IF you haven't done your own research about the realities of the profession. Good, bad, truth, and common myths & misconceptions.
Yall's turn!
...you are super high maintenance
...you can't survive on a few hours of sleep
...don't know how to put up with *rubbish* from other people
...feel inferior in the face of big egos - because you will see big ones and you have to deal with people who think they are better than you
...can't live with bureaucracy
...think that healthcare people run the hospital...they don't...it's business people with MBAs and the bottom line
...you can't tolerate diversity
...you aren't ready to give so much of yourself over and not get much in return
...you don't have a sense of humor (a sometimes sick one, as you will come to see)
...you think there is one, and only one, right way
...you have no ethics or morals
...you have killed or injured someone willfully
...you believe everything you see
...you are stupid (blunt, I know)
...are not prepared to work hard
...you don't want to touch a patient
...you have untreated mental health issues (please get help!!)
...you are looking for glory
...you are close minded
Don't go into nursing school I you don't know how to prayer. Believe me, you will learn how to pray and cry out to God in the process of nursing school.
I think people are jumping on this comment way too much. I do not think the poster was making a jab at atheists/agnostics or saying they are not competent nurses. Calm down people!

Totally agree! Some ppl are just into their FEELINGS on this topic. The question was very specific, it wasn't to debate what another poster felt. Now where trying to change this to a religion thing. Who says who's right who's wrong? It's ones OWN opinion. Believe what YOU want to believe. I see posters posting to study study study but yet no one debates NOT to study. It's logical to study of course. I remember reading a thread once that a poster didnt study as much in NS and recommended not taking the journey too seriously, that was their opinion to the question asked, who are we to judge! I'm just trying to prove a point, that what you do is what you do...end of story! Now back to the "Individual opinion question at hand"...

I don't think that comment about prayer had any place outside the Spirituality forum. Whether or not the poster was making a jab at atheists or agnostics, it SEEMED to many as if he was. Therefore it was inappropriate.

Also, religion is always a hot topic, so it was expected that any mention would prompt replies. The manner in which he commented initially ensured responses.
None of the responses I have seen have attacked the person in any way, just stated that they held a different stance.

I guess if it got responses like that, it was not warranted. I don't know the poster's intentions, but he/she made have been unaware of how people would respond. I think it was a personal response for that individual.

I did not get that impression. It seemed to me that the person was sharing what helped them through nursing school. If you are a person of faith, it seems fitting that you would recommend prayer and relying on your faith. I'm surprised that some people have an issue that someone mentioned their faith.
Eta: My faith is important to me and I never bring it up to incite others, only to share about my life.

Dont go into nursing school if...
...Are not quite sure what you REALLY want to do
...You do have anyone to watch your kids while you are in school (if you have kids)
...You only do it because your parents want you too
...To show off to your family and friends
...If you think you are going to have nights, weekends, and holidays off
Last...If you are only in it for the MONEY!!! The worst reason to become a nurse, you can make all the money in the world and hate your job.
