Fill in the blank with any advice you can give students who have just been accepted into a program or who are thinking about embarking on the journey of nursing school.
Here's mine:
DON'T GO INTO NURSING SCHOOL IF you haven't done your own research about the realities of the profession. Good, bad, truth, and common myths & misconceptions.
Yall's turn!
Here's some, based on some of the coo-coo posts I've seen here on AN:
Don't go to nursing school if you have a freak-out because you have to get rid of your fake nails and nail polish.
Geeze Louise!
You'd think that if nursing was someone's "dreeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeam!" that they would be willing to make this small sacrifice.
Don't go to nursing school if you still need your parents to do everything for you.
No, you can't bring them to orientation and no, the nursing school board won't take you seriously if you bring Mummy in to plead your case for re-entry when you've failed out.
Nursing wants adults and it's time to grow up.
Don't go to nursing school if you don't know how to take responsibility for your actions:
If you find yourself struggling over and over again, then the problem is most likely with you. Figure out your problem and fix it.
If your instructor sucks, figure out another way to learn the material.
If you mess up, you own it and you deal with the consequences.
Finally, don't go to nursing school if you're being pressured to do so.
It's a lot of blood, sweat and tears to endure in order to live someone else's dream...
Wait, I meant "dreeeeeeeeeeeeeeam!"... because that's the way we do it here on AN

...if you can't show up on time, prepared for the day, in a clean uniform
...if you expect the teacher to hold your hand and say "there, there, you don't really have to know how to do that"
...if you are going to take personal insult from broad comments (that were defined as overly simplified to begin with), made about people groups in your cross-cultural lecture and therefore the instructor must be racist
