Fill in the blank with any advice you can give students who have just been accepted into a program or who are thinking about embarking on the journey of nursing school.

Here's mine:

DON'T GO INTO NURSING SCHOOL IF you haven't done your own research about the realities of the profession. Good, bad, truth, and common myths & misconceptions.

Don't go into nursing if....

1. you don't have any time management skills.

2. you don't have a thick skin.

3. you have a bad attitude.

4. you think you are too good to empty a bedpan or a urinal.

5. the sight of blood makes you faint.

6. you hate people.

7. you think you know everything, and are unwilling to learn anything new.

8. you have a poor work ethic.

a) you don't have a sense of humor

b) your time management sucks

c) you think nursing is going to not have the annoyances and pitfalls of any other profession

d) you don't like taking care of people your parents' or grandparents' age

Patients shouldn't have to die (or wait) because of your religion.

Don't go into nursing school I you don't know how to prayer. Believe me, you will learn how to pray and cry out to God in the process of nursing school.

Come on, really? Did you have to throw religion into this? I'm an atheist and get by just fine without belief in a higher power.

Think that instructors are required to give you a study guide for all tests and only use the textbook for questions
