I found out from someone on my unit that I offended a doctor by joking with him about his "short" visit with the pt. This is a doctor that I have spoken with before and it seemed to me that he had a good sense of humor. Obviously I did not intend to offend him and am wondering if I should say something to him the next time I see him. Any advice is appreciated.

Yeh, say something along the lines of, " I heard you were offended about what I said about....." He probably wasn't offended but this will "clear the air" just in case.......

If you have a good enough repor with this physican that you felt that you could joke with him about the way he does his job, then you should have enough in you to apoligize. A small appology can go a long way, and then he will know that you were just kidding him and were not serious.
Thank you all! I saw him today and did apologize. Of course he said, "no big deal, I was really tired that day, you know how it can get, not to worry". I do feel so much better since I deal with him quite often. We are all human, right???

Quite the ironic comment considering your name.

Glad things worked out. Sounds like he was just having a bad day and is a nice guy. It happens to the best of us.
Thanks guys for the recent support, but my op is over 9 months old! This doc and I are such good buddies now, it's almost ridiculous. An apology is always worth it when it's sincere. Good things come out of it.
