I found out from someone on my unit that I offended a doctor by joking with him about his "short" visit with the pt. This is a doctor that I have spoken with before and it seemed to me that he had a good sense of humor. Obviously I did not intend to offend him and am wondering if I should say something to him the next time I see him. Any advice is appreciated.

A small appology can go a long way, and then he will know that you were just kidding him and were not serious.

Of course he said, "no big deal, I was really tired that day, you know how it can get, not to worry". I do feel so much better since I deal with him quite often. We are all human, right???

This doc and I are such good buddies now, it's almost ridiculous. An apology is always worth it when it's sincere. Good things come out of it.
