Do I apologize to the doctor??

I found out from someone on my unit that I offended a doctor by joking with him about his "short" visit with the pt. This is a doctor that I have spoken with before and it seemed to me that he had a good sense of humor. Obviously I did not intend to offend him and am wondering if I should say something to him the next time I see him. Any advice is appreciated.

Please, I don't think it was unprofessional at all, you know you have joked on the job. Think about this were you being "unprofessional" when you told a joke or perhaps laughed at one. Think about that!!
