Divorce court on exam day...

Long story short I'm in the middle of a divorce and just received my court notice today, it happens to be on a lecture day in which I have exam 1 and lecture.

I immediately emailed my instructor to see if I can attend the evening class to take my exam, I much rather take the exam with everyone else than take a different exam in the testing center. I also don't want to miss a lecture or exam review.

My hope is that I can attend divorce court in the AM and take my exam that evening. I don't plan on rescheduling my divorce date as this has been a long and emotional process. I just want to get it over with.

I just hope I manage to do well with everything going on in my life right now.

Hope your instructor allows what sounds like a reasonable alternative. I would think that would be the case, especially if you showed her the court order.

Thanks for the kind words. Any student that misses an exam have to either go to the test center to take a different exam or either wait for exam make up day which is at the end of the class. I don't want to do either. I will be in court all morning so there is no way I can see what was on the exam. I pray it works out. Geesh. Its never a dull moment. I went from posting threads that stated : " Getting married in nursing school" to Getting divorce in NS" My life have been a soap opera.

My instructor stated that I would have to take the exam on the make up day which is at the end of the class. :bluecry1::bluecry1::bluecry1::bluecry1:

I'm so torn on what to do. I either have to postpone my divorce (AGAIN!!!) or wait til the end of the class to take exam 1. Should I go up the chain of command to request that I take my exam on the same day except in the testing center? To test in the testing center we need a note from a psychiatrist, I may be able to get one. I did send her another email pleading with her. I hope that helps. So many other students were able to post pone their exams for the next day due to vacay or " not feeling well" Why can't I? I guess life isn't fair. I have never, ever missed one nursing exam, lecture, or clinical. NEVER.I just pray my instructor will under stand.

So after sending the instructor another email she still said No, I have to take my first exam once the class ends.

Tomorrow I plan to seek counsel from the director of nursing their who I trust. I won't ask her to over step any policy or decision but maybe she can guide me on how to prepare for the exam as I'm scared to death of failing it. Sigh- This too shall pass.

Update- The school was not able to bend the rules ( which I totally understand and agree with). Therefore, I called the court explained my situation and they were gracious enough to allow me to move my court time until after my exam is over. I'm ever so greatful ! My soon to be ex husband was also very understanding and willing to come in at a later day.

So I will have my exam in AM, divorce in PM, and hopefully getting a drink by 5pm... Sigh. Load of my shoulders, now I can focus on school again !
