Hi everyone, I am so dissapointed because I failed the NET, not once but twice! I only have one more chance. If I don't pass this time I will not be allowed to take the test again for another year. I passed the math with flying colors, but the reading I failed by 2 points! I do have the NET book, but I must be studying it wrong or something. Now they are saying we will be taking the Hobet instead of the NET. I guess they are no longer using the NET test. Is there a difference? Do you think maybe I'm not smart enough for the nursing field? I really want to become an LPN. Any advice will help. Thanks all! :)
I took the NET test at Cypress college last semester and I can honestly say it is one of the easiest tests I've ever taken.....I got in the 90th percentile in almost all of the categories and finished overall in the 99th percentile. I honestly don't see whats so difficult about the NET test. The math is mostly basic algebra and math skills......the reading comprehension is mostly deduction and being able to interpret a few passages.
Do you mean Cy-Fair College in Texas?
I took the NET today and passed. I have to say the ERI study guide was a great help. I did not ace the test but received an average score. The math for me was easy once I brushed up on everything. The reading on the other hand was not so easy. I read all the time but for some reason this part of the test was hard for me however I got an average score. All I can say is study ERI study guide until you know everything in it......
Is the ERI study guide the one with a blue cover that says Study Guide for the NET HOBET and HELP found on this site - bottom left area.
If not where did u get it. I was considered getting some sort of tutoring. Any opinions?
Buy a few more study guides that have reading comp sections in them. You will only improve if you do it again and again. You could also go to Barnes & Noble for a few hours and practice with their books. They have a lot of them.
One thing that has helped me with the reading is to read the question first so that I know what I am looking for. It helps to calm me a bit. If it has a certain word or phrase I need to look out for then I underline it as I go so I know where to return to in the passage.
Also, you might be overthinking. Your first instinct is usually right. Remember that the main idea is the main point of the passage and other info given will support the main idea. I try to break things down that way when I look at the answers. Is this the main focus or was this something that supports it.
Hang in there!! You can do it!!

great news..having twice taken the NET..I am going to try again. THIS IS THE BEST LINK EVER.....
http://www.hfcclab.info/NET/reading resources.htm. This is by far the most helpful link on the web for helping with reading comprehension on the net exam. It has tons of practice and really helps. I finally feel like someone is trying to help me "get in and stay in" instead of helping me "get out". Has anyone else noticed there seems to be tons of material on the NCLEX but very little help for the net. I guess that's because there's so many trying to get in. I passed the math with flying colors but this reading is sooooo different. I really think that the ERI world study guide is right on the money for help with the math section but is less than helpful for reading. TRY THIS SITE!!!!!!!!!! HANG IN THERE EVERYONE!!!WE WILL MAKE IT!! STUDY HARD!!

This is an extremely helpful site. HANG IN THERE. YOU CAN DO THIS! I have tried twice before. I am not going to give up. I pray too. I'll say a prayer for you also. When do you take it again? I am trying on Feb. 16th.
Well I went to Books a Million to look over some books. They had a few labeled Nursing Entrance Exam (not test - NET). They had some parts in there that was not on my NET test. Here are the links. Could anyone tell me if these are the right books or where I can find them.

I think the trickiest thing about the NET is the time limit. I passed the first time and did well with minimal studying. I was confident that I knew the material, but what gets most people is getting nervous and having your mind go blank. I was calm and relaxed the entire time and wore a stopwatch so I could monitor my time progress. I was able to finish every section before time and even able to double check myself. I do find it amusing though that I scored lowest in the "predicting outcomes" from the entire test! So I guess I shouldn't quit my day job to become a fortune teller, eh?! :roll Good luck to everyone! Just try to stay calm and not overwhelm yourself!
