  1. The bookstore at my school had a copies of the study guide for people to buy, and the library had some available (not to check out, but you could sit there and work out the problems at least). Good luck!
  2. We actually just talked about this in class the other night, because some nurses will do this (sad, but true). She told us to document it when we think it is happening (if it's not documented, it didn't happen). Then take that to whoever your boss is.
  3. I personally like this idea of an underwear revolution! lol. When I had to wear white pants for my CNA clinicals, I wore "shorts underwear" - really comfy! Luckily when i start my clinicals for my RN this fall, we have royal blue uniforms.
  4. I love watching Grey's Anatomy! I don't watch it regularly, but when I catch it, the channel stays there.
  5. Congrats! :balloons:
  6. I'm starting my first year of the ADN program, and I'm taking clinical dev. I, gerontology, and principles of pharmacology. I will graduate in May 2008.
  7. I have not taken the test yet (and won't for a few years) but I hope you did better than you think! I know how that is what you take a test and everything you know and expect to be on there isn't, and things that you have no clue about are everywhere! Anyway, I just wanted to say that I hope it doesn't turn out to be as bad as you are expecting it to be!
  8. Although I haven't started my classes yet, I have overheard previous nursing students calling their teachers by first name. Since I have only been out of high school for one year, I have a problem calling my teachers by first name though, even if they tell us to! If I need something, I just dont call them anything, lol.
  9. I would agree with the people who said that "for the money" is a bad reason. When I was doing my pre-reqs and I met people who were also trying to get into the nursing program, I got really annoyed when people were like "i'm just doing it because I can't find any other job," not even hinting that they are looking forward to caring about people, and doing a job that they can go home at night and say "I did something good for someone today." Those are the things I am looking forward to! Also, when I was doing my CNA clinicals, I couldn't believe all the CNA's who just complained all the time about how awful their job is and how they talked so badly about the residents behind their backs! I know being a CNA isn't a glamorous job by far, but that is no way to act in a professional setting. Doesn't it make these people feel good that what they are doing is helping to make these residents more comfortable and keeping them safe? If helping other people doesn't make you feel good, I don't know what will.
  10. I got a lower grade on A&P than I wanted when I started my pre-reqs, so I re-took the class in the spring and got a better grade on it. Would that be an option for you to maybe re-take your classes? I'd really hate to see someone give up on nursing because of a GPA!
  11. Welcome! I'm new here too, and I have taken the NET. It's very basic...nothing to be stressed about! Good luck!
  12. You could skim over the book just to get an idea of what to expect, but with my class, the teacher didn't talk about half of the things in the book, so it would be a waste of time to really do anything major until you find out what the instructor is going to do with the material.
  13. Congrats on passing! I got an 80% overall, so I was happy with that. The study guide I had really helped a lot, and gave me a great idea for what to expect on the test. So for anyone who hasn't taken it yet and wants to know what's on it, get a NET test study guide!
  14. Highland Community College (www.highland.edu) has an evening ADN program...not really in the area you are looking for (it's in northwest Illinois), but it might help.
  15. I am going to start my nursing classes in a few weeks, and I have just received and read my handbook. It says that our nails are not to be seen from the palmar side of the hand, no fake nails, etc. Don't know if that's what the rules are everywhere, but that's what I was told!
