Did you lose any students?

Today was final exams and we didn't lose anyone:yeah:. Last fall semester we lost 9. 6 failed out and 3 decided they did not want to pursue nursing. How many have you lost in this spring semester?

Specializes in Tele.

We lost probably 25+...some before finals, some after. I think we started with around 80. We'll see how many remain after 3 more semesters...

Specializes in Cardio-Pulmonary; Med-Surg; Private Duty.

We started with 80, we have a year to go, and I think we have less than 40 left.

Specializes in PICU, Sedation/Radiology, PACU.

We lost about 20% in the first year of the program. Some losses were due to failing gen-ed courses. Other people just decided that nursing wasn't for them. Some just dropped out of school altogether.

That left about 80 students for our sophomore year. We maybe lost 10 students this year, due to failures and just deciding to change majors.

Junior year in med-surg I was the worst year for our class. About 20 students ended up failing and had to repeat the course next year.

We didn't lose anyone senior year, and we graduated about 50.

Specializes in ER.

Started with 35, down to 30.

Specializes in orthopedic/trauma, Informatics, diabetes.

ADN prgram. Started with 56; started second year with 36; graduated 31. Three were lost at the final exam.

Specializes in Family Practice, Emergency Nursing.

In the program I was in, we started with 29 and we graduated with 19. I was very thankful the be apart of that group of 19!

WOW some of you lost a lot! I am in the third quarter of an ADN program. we have lost 6/34 originals. I know another three that are about to fail. There is one more test left, but some are already in too deep. My program rotates in people that failed into the next cohort though, so we pick up a few sometimes.

We just finished our second semester and we lost about 7..

im in a lpn program... we started out with 27 and now we are at 19 at the end of our first semester

In an ADN program, we started with 80 and am down to 56 after the first year. The graduating class had 50 until finals, and ended up graduating 28/80.

Scary to read...Hope the odds will be "ever in my favor"

Ok...dorky moment :lol2:!
