Nurses General Nursing

Published

I found out yesterday that I passed boards and am now a Registered Nurse :) Soooo excited!!! If I wasn't sick, I'd be jumping up and down and screaming! :p

Anyway, I've been browsing online and looking at some Nurse things like: Bumper Stickers, License Plate Frames, Mugs, Magnets, etc.

I really want to get something that says I'm a nurse (other than my license), and I'm just trying to figure out what to buy. Do you think putting something on the car is tacky?

Did you buy anything?

probably because you have a decent job and may have more stuff in the car than the average joe? if it is parked in front of your house then you might have more stuff in your house than the average joe..... I dont think it would make a difference, when people are gonna steal, it doesnt matter what the car says... they steal it...

No. However, someone bought me a nurse mug for graduation.

My husband downloaded a pinup drawing of a nurse with the slogan "feel safe at night sleep with a nurse". I start NS this month. I told him I didn't want him looking at her all the time. Ha ha.

I think if you advertise that you are a RN on your car, you will be expected to perform in emergencies - which is great of you are a seasoned ER or ICU RN, but if you've just graduated your skills may not be as honed.

Yeah, but I drive an XTerra. A stripped down straight drive that can handle sand and mountains. I hate it for the sucker that would think I have anything valuable to steal!

In response to the OP, I did get a necklace as a gift that had an "RN" charm on it with a caduceus. I think it is so cool that you are excited about being a nurse! I hope it continues throughout your career. Congrats to you! :yeah:

I got myself some scrubs (no more nursing school scrubs! :))

I have a little rubber duckie nurse (she has a nurse's cap w/a heart on it, stethoscope and clipboard) that I stuck on the dashboard of my car with Velcro. I love it, it's so cute!

(My clinical instructor gave them to us... she called us her little duckies when we followed her around the hospital on the first day of clinicals) :loveya:

Scrubs was the first thing I bought! Finally, no more ugly school patch, and I could wear the colors of my choice! (within my hospital's policy).

Oh, and I bought membership into my professional organizations. ANA, NCNA, and AACN. :D

I bought nice scrubs. No one outside of work needs to know I am a nurse.
