Date MD's??

Published

I just have a question to everyone out there. How many of you have dated a doctor? How was the relationship with regards to the work environment, home, etc? Did your co-workers treat you differently?

Specializes in Hey I'm now an RN!!.
Working with them is enough to turn me off from dating one.

:yeahthat:

I am married but even before that there was no interest for me there. Whether it was the attitude some carried or the hours worked, it just wasn't a right match for me all around.

Specializes in 5 yrs OR, ASU Pre-Op 2 yr. ER.
I've had a few people tell me that once I'm a nurse, I can easily find a cute doctor to marry...because, of course that's the reason I went into nursing school, isn't it? :uhoh3:

That's my FH's cousin's mentality. He's a plastic surgeon and thinks that every woman went into nursing to land themselves a doctor. I'd ask him what the men would be in nursing for if i were still on speaking terms with Ego-Man, but as it is though.

He's still not invited to the wedding.:angryfire

One of the reasons I didn't like to date the docs was that they were the WORST gossips!

Hey, some of us want to meet cute doctors too! In fact, there's a med student that I keep thinking about these days. Unfortunately, I'm not Mr. Suave. It takes me a ridiculously long time to translate thoughts to actions. Knew her before med school but we've kinda lost touch. Keep saying we're going to do lunch, but one of us is always busy.

I digress, but yeah, some straight males in nursing wouldn't mind meeting the right doctor type. I agree with most of the others though - not someone from work.

Oh, just to add: I remember your previous post about your jerk plastic surgeon relative. Doesn't sound like you're exactly missing out on having him around at the wedding. :)

Hey Y'all

When I was single and younger (between the 1st Mrs and the better and permanent one) I noticed lots of kinda good looking female MDs. It occurred to me that I could drive a BMW, could learn to entertain, cook lasagna and if I was in my speedos could be decorative. Alas, none of them thought enough of me....

Is this on-topic? Or do my chromosones (and preferrences) rule me out?

yeah, but couldn't that be true about all men? no sense in generalizing doctors. many doctors i know are fine upstanding men, not hte cheating type.
But naturally, only men do all the cheating!

Unfaithful, ingrates!

Great point mano :)

Date MDs?

Date Nurses?

Date lawyers?

Date handyman?

Date soldiers?

Date bikers?

Naturally, ALL MDs/RNs/Lawyers/Enggineers/Cops/Firemen/Soldiers/Martians/Plumbers are the same. Their profession defines their personality!

How about "Date human beings" ?

I dated a med student once - things were fabulous but we eventually went split ... not because she was a med student, but because we wanted different things from life.

'Tis all.

I can attest that it's not just the men. I used to be horrified about all the 'extra-curricular' activities that went on between the docs and the nurses!:o

My husband never made the bucks that the doctors did, but I wouldn't trade him for ANY of them!

I remember this one squirrely little anesthesiologist we had. Homely, and an @ss to boot. He had TWO surgical nurses fighting over him - we used to say if he worked at Walmart, no one would have given him the time of day.:uhoh3:

Ive dated several docs-they seem to have poorly developed social skills-pass-Im more into real estate developers, MBAs etc-people with real money and more developed social skills-who wants a man with a god like ego ,that works those kind of hours? I find MBAs are more vivacious and have a more fun loving attitude-less ego. (do you want the CEO or the nerd from your high school chemistry class? A Phd does not take the dork out of these guys)

My motto was always, "Don't **** where you eat."

Same thing applies to dating co-workers. :)

That being said, I've had several married MD's make passes at me, and it disgusts me, as I am definitely married, very happily so, and make no secret of the fact.

Specializes in Acute Med, Pediatric Hematology-Oncology.

yeah....i can barely get our docs/residents to write orders and return pages. to say nothing of flirting or dating.
