Date MD's??

I just have a question to everyone out there. How many of you have dated a doctor? How was the relationship with regards to the work environment, home, etc? Did your co-workers treat you differently?

i'm currently dating a fellow at my hospital. we met on my unit when he was in his last month of his residency. i'll agree that it can be a bad idea to date people you work with. we didn't really start dating until he had finished on my unit and started his fellowship in another department. there are times when it can be awkward, like when he comes down for a consult, or i have to page him for one of my patients, but for us the key it keeping in low key and separate from our work. i work rotating shifts (1st and 2nd weekly and every other weekend) and he works 7-5ish monday - friday and he is on call a one or two weekend days a month, so we both have time to ourselves and enough time together. i didn't go into nursing to date a md and for awhile i kept telling myself that i wouldn't. i went to school with some girls that couldn't wait to marry an md and stop working, but for me, being a nurse is a huge part of who i am, i love it and no matter who i marry i will never give that up. i'm not that have lots of babies and stay at home type of girl though, i'd much rather work hard and spend my extra time and money traveling. i know that it has been said a few times before, but it comes down to, you don't date the profession, you date the person. as for the being faithful questions, just because he's an md doesn't make it anymore likely for him to cheat then any other profession. bottom line, at this point in our lives we make eachother happy.

I got PO'd yesterday at school. I was talking to 2 girls in their 20's and asked them what areas of nursing they were interested in. One, who is a very beautiful girl, said "I probably will never use my degree, as I plan to marry well, and stay home". The other said "I will work a few years and then see if I marry a doctor, and then I will not have to work".

This maks me sooooo mad! I've been busting my butt to get into nursing school for 2 years, and this is my competition? I need a job and a career so I can help support my family because my dad is going to be forced into early retirement due to the aftereffects of Guillian-Barre syndrome, and some gold-diggers are taking my spot because they see it as a dating service!?!?!? Yeesh, if you want a rich husband, get a job as a waitress in a country club!
