I just have a question to everyone out there. How many of you have dated a doctor? How was the relationship with regards to the work environment, home, etc? Did your co-workers treat you differently?

Working with them is enough to turn me off from dating one.
(Although NOW Matt can't decide if he wants to go to his doctorate in administration or pursue med school. Eeek.)

Back in the day....
Yes, I dated some docs. They weren't my 'preferred' date--I liked Navy Helo pilots best-but I did have 2 or 3 I went out w/, and one I had a "relationship" with. They were all residents, not private practice or attendings, and, no, nobody treated me any different.
When I've had co-workers who married docs, and especially as those docs became attendings, or went into private practice, things gradually changed, partly because they became more affluent, I think. Eventually, they left to go be SAHMs!

....... A friend of mine who has been a nurse forever (30 yrs) has seen it all & has a brother who happens to be a doctor actually...She told me alot of doctors are not faithful to their wives/gf's.....there are some good ones out there but she says alot of them are unfaithful...and usually have affairs with nurses.......(go figure) ........She worked in the hospital for a long time so I am sure she has seen lots & lots of stuff in that respect........

yeah, but couldn't that be true about all men? no sense in generalizing doctors. many doctors i know are fine upstanding men, not hte cheating type.
Yes you are right BUT it is true....my friend has a huge family..10 brothers & sisters all of whom are doctors, lawyers, nurses, social workers, real etstate developers, physical therapist etc. And where we live her family is very very well known by everyone.....so I know for a fact she isn't just generalizing.
I am sure you do know alot of doctors who are fine upstanding men..who aren't the cheating type.....as far as you know of....... Not saying they are but you NEVER know.....human nature is human nature regardless of whether you are m or f

When I was single, I made it a point to NOT date anyone from work. Even after such a relationship ends both parties still have to see each other. I will go out with a group for drinks, pool, or dinner. Relationships? No way.
That said, there are a couple of surgeons dating each other where I work and one of my nursing school classmates has said she is anxious to graduate, start working, and find a cute doctor to marry.
It would make sense that folks wanting to fool around would do so with people they meet at work. Thus, healthcare workers would tend to socialize within the profession. An ABC news article said an estimated 30 percent to 40 percent of wives are unfaithful, compared to 50 percent of husbands. I can't imagine that varies much by profession.

Well what would happen if the realonship went bad and then you had to go to work and see that doctor everyday and fell unconfterable. but i think it sould be up to the persion who wants to date a doctor and the docors them selves.

I've had a few people tell me that once I'm a nurse, I can easily find a cute doctor to marry...because, of course that's the reason I went into nursing school, isn't it?
Exactly.
