What would you do if you had a colleague that opened patients’ room windows during inclement weather? For example , the other day it was quite cold, cloudy and rainy and someone had opened up all the windows on one unit. A similar happening occurred during Winter when it was very snowy out. In both instances, some of the rooms got very cold, almost to the point of being freezing. What would you do about a colleague who does things such as this? In our case, we don’t know who is responsible (yet) but wondering about the best approach should their identity become known

Our styles of replying to posts are similar, in that we are consistently respectful, use "verbal" listening techniques, and are generally supportive. We tend to treat others as we ourselves want to be treated, approaching threads with a certain gracefulness, most likely due to our age and life histories.
The mainstream posters tend to smugly and arrogantly barge into a thread and bluntly state their opinions. They will ask rhetorically loaded questions meant to challenge, so they can belittle their perceived opponent in an endeavor to be part of a powerful pecking party, thereby elevating their low self esteem.
I did not predict your return, merely longed for it, and breathe a sigh of relief!
No. Request denied.
Well, thanks Davy. Actually, the reason I took a hiatus is because of exactly what you described: someone reads something they disagree with, ask the poster angry challenging questions that are really thinly-disguised accusations, and then hammer home their self-righteous superiority. There was an awful lot of that going on for awhile, with hangers-on giving a lot of "like"s to that behaviour.
In fact, there may be some of that going on right now on a different thread...

Do you guys have an elephant ????? eating Mexican food ??and drinking Pepsi in your ward too ????? I've said before and I will say it again, that is some combustible ***?????
I have no advice. I'm just amazed the windows at OP's facility open. Both SNF's/LTC's I've worked at in the past were in the south, and those windows didn't open.
It would have been nice if they had. I could understand not wanting a patient to jump out the window (there's news stories where this has happened). But come on, at least make it so we can open the ones on the first floor.
There's a lot wrong with both of those facilities, but that window thing was a DEALBREAKER! Clearly, you have a staff member who feels the same way. ????

Well stated, TriciaJ.
The rather cliche-ish statement, "You can't fix stupid" applies across the board with other levels of intelligence or personality types. Closed-minded arrogant types fit into the definition of being delusional, in that they hold a firm fixed belief in spite of evidence to the contrary.
Making negative types persona non grata is my favorite method of dealing with that type. I truly enjoy debating, or arguing a premise, but too often personal attacks ensue when an opponent's premise cannot hold water, or foundation is threatened. Once a member starts using personal affronts in a discussion, I'm outta there.
