I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Allnurses is a global phenomenon. It is hugely popular, and a lot of us spend a good amount of time here, venting, learning, and sharing. So, the odds that someone we work with would be a member as well is pretty great. I wonder: does anyone here not vent (or not tell the full story when venting) about work from fear that a co-worker may be reading the thread and know who you are and what you are talking about?:uhoh21:
I used to work w/ my current manager when she was a peer at the bedside. She knew I would peek at this site from time to time then. If she were of a mind, it wouldn't be difficult for her to come here and remember my ID.
But, I have lots of respect for her (said not only for her benefit if she sees this, but because it's true) - and I don't think I've ever posted anything on here I'd be embarrassed if she saw.
~faith,

When I first found the site, I didn't even think that anyone that I knew would even read anything I had written. I found out differently, when I posted about a frustration with some classmates and behaviors at clinicals. I never used any names, but I guess they were able to figure it out. Life was hell at school for a while, but I told them exactly what I meant. So now, I"m a little more aware of what I post and a lot of times I just confront them with the problem before posting so they can't say I'm stabbing them in the back.
Thanks for all the responses. I did the google thing, and I was very...scared. I'm happy this thread got so many hits, because I was starting to feel selfish for not sharing this site with some of my nurse friends that could use the rich resources. I just can't... In nursing school I was raving about this cool BB I found. The classmate and I had a falling out of sorts. THEN I thought about some of my posts on here and I said "OMG! What if this person can recognize my posts and use some of the things I say on here against me?!" I figured I couldn't be the only one thinking that from time to time. Learned my lesson. Allnurses is my secret, and if a co-worker stumbles across it and can figure out who I am...then I too am tall, blonde, and 25!
Nope, I post whatever I feel like posting. I don't know if any of my coworkers use this site or not. As far as I've ever been able to tell, none of them seem to know anything about it. I have told some coworkers about the site.
I would actually be interested to find out somehow, if any other nurses from my hospital use this site.
That is... let me rephrase myself. I am VERY CAREFUL, but I still
pretty much post what I feel like posting. I don't leave my windows open when posting at work, and when I post I am pretty careful about details.

Heck, I have told my DON and Admin. about the site. They know I am here; only place I "out-rank" them. One does have to watch what one says cuz of HIPAA and all, but.....
