C'Mon Now!

Had a kid bring his wet, bloody tooth and plop it right on my desk.

C'mon now!

Or the kid that did running knee slide into my office.

C'mon now!

The ones old enough to cover their mouths but choose to cough right in your face instead.

All together: C'mon now!!

Some things just make me shake my head.

Both of these happened this morning.

Staff member: "I need you to look at my foot. Now. I slipped in the shower this morning and I think it's broken. Do you think its broken? I'm getting xrays taken, but they're not going to tell me if its broken right away, will they? Is it broken? Do you think its broken?"

Another Staff Member: "In the breakfast bags this morning, there was yogurt, but no spoons. As the health person, can you let the kitchen staff know that this is a health issue?"

"Your" yogurt isn't finger licking good?  For shame!?

Thank the Lord I am in an office by myself and away from where anyone can see me.  Literally laughed out loud at this.  Thank you @NutmeggeRN!

For the record... Crayons are NOT to be put inside your cast to get that itchy spot!! Thankfully I was able to get it out.

Texting your dad to pick you up because you "don't feel well" even before you ask to see the nurse for cramps didn't fly before COVID and doesn't fly during COVID, kid.

I get it, being a biological female isn't fun during that time, but you cannot self dismiss ever. C'mon now!

(In this case, cramps were able to be treated at school, but dad already in route and just showed to office AFTER student returned to class. Student didn't share they texted until he showed up...)

Makes me crazy!

I have a class out quarantining.  I emailed to check in & give a reminder of return date.  A parent said "we went away this weekend for a sports tournament, can we return on the original day or do we need to quarantine for travel?"  You sent your kid to a sports tournament...during their quarantine?  Oh. My.

And people wonder why this thing is dragging on/not getting better..... I can't wait to hear people's excuses once the vaccine is available to the general population.

I had this happen, pre-covid. HS Student complaining of feeling poorly, no objective symptoms, shared that she was in danger of repeating a grade due to absences, I gave her a pep talk about responsibility and what an employer would expect of her, and sent her back to class. Later on I had a call from her grandmother complaining that I hadn't called. I explained our conversation but told her that if she felt her granddaughter needed to come home it was her decision, she was quite welcome to pick the girl up.  She said her granddaughter said she'd thrown up. I responded that if she wanted to come back to the nurses office we could assess it then, but I had my doubts. The girl never came back and the regular nurse never complained.

Had a positive parent send their son to school after they were told to quarantine the kid. The had the audacity to get mad at me when the student had to be picked up. Mad because we checked his temperature at school before entry and didn't have a fever. Why are you even checking if you're just going to send kids home whenever you feel like it?  Sir, we have to check temps because our department of education makes us, but that is beside the point. YOU are positive. Which means the students in your household have to quarantine. (Yes, the student was a close contact)

Argued with me for quite a while. Even told me I had no idea how many students were in school with Covid right now because "parents talk". If parents are knowingly sending their kids to school with Covid, that's on them.

Y'all I am over Covid.
