Can this be put on the homepage or SOMETHING?!

Published

icuRNmaggie has been reposting and reposting the link to the petition to have mandated nurse to patient ratios, but there are STILL only about 20,000 out of the 80,000 signatures needed by October 17.

We all argue a whole lot, but I think this might be one thing just about all of us can agree on.

I'm sure most of the moderators and other people involved with AN support the cause as individuals, but can AN as a company help support us on this?

It just seems like having a link on the front page would generate so much more traffic. And what about all those article links that pop up on Facebook? Can the petition be linked in one of those?

Having the support of a giant internet presence like this one could make all the difference, and I hate to say it, but I don't think we can do it on our own. We need help!

Yes!!! I shared the link along with the importance to everyone on my fb friend list. There is only so much I can do to spread the word.

Question: does it have to be only nurses who sign, or can the general public sign as well?

Because if the general public can sign, I will put my scrubs on and be one of those people stopping shoppers at the entrance of stores with flyers for the link to the site to sign.

Signed. This is the first I've heard of it and I'm on AN more than my loving husband likes but I frequent the What's New tab because I surf and reply on my phone. Either way, I'm going to tell every person at my work about this!

I don't think it has to be just nurses. I think they just require 100k discrete signatures. As this is a patient safety issue, I would think that the general public should have a voice in this as well!

I thought it was pretty well known that these petitions we not living up t what was promised.

"We The People petitions are basically just fodder for the White House press shop. If responding to a petition is useful for creating a positive news cycle, they make a big deal of responding to it. But these responses just serve to reaffirm publicly stated White House priorities. If you show a groundswell of support for a position or question that doesn't fit the White House's priorities, don't hold your breath waiting for an answer."

That was my line of thinking. When I posted it to fb and tagged everybody, I specifically stated how it directly affects them and their families

I posted it on my FB right after The View debacle for all my friends and family to sign. It's an internet petition, I don't think it CAN be made restrictive.

It may not be very effective, being an internet petition, but it is something to get the ball rolling for change.

Now, if we get all the signatures and start sending it to our respective representatives, that may do some good.

I am still hopeful that it will go somewhere and some positive action will result.

I think there are change.org petitions too - unfortunately there are several that all need to be combined together
