I asked this question previously but in the wrong context. I just want to know can nurses, specifically in NY, afford nice things and live comfortably and not paycheck to paycheck?
Thanks.

Your question is difficult because the term Luxury is very subjective. If you live within the realm of reality, and expect nice life, personally if I were you, I would not live in NY or CA.

What's a "nice thing"?
No because luxurious and comfortably are two different things

Next up: "Can nurses live very comfortably?" and "Can nurses live somewhat comfortably?". They're all different questions, ya'll!

I have paid off my student loans, purchased my first house at 24, have over a year's salary in investments before 30, traveled, purchased a nice SUV and still had a life outside of work. I don't live paycheck to paycheck by any means. The key is being smart with money and not having kids (seriously). I live in a moderate cost of living area, however, and get a significant increase in pay for working in a critical care area.

Figure out the average new grad starting pay in the area you're planning to live.
Remove the word 'nurse' from the question.
New question. "Could I live comfortably (only you can define this word for yourself) on $XX,XXX per year?"
Stop asking random internet questions that they cannot possibly answer for your circumstances..
