Best lotion for dry hands?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone uses any hand moisturizers that are really good. I am using vaseline intensive care and it just isn't doing the trick, as my hands are very dry and cracked, it feels really good when I use the hand gel on rare occasion.

Any recommendations would be great!

I love aquaphor and eucerin lotion. It is greasy though so I always apply it at night. When my hands get especially bad, like they can in the winter time, I will go to sleep with gloves on and let the lotion sink in. I am also constantly moisturizing at work with our approved lotion. It kind of stinks (like its old) but it helps while I am at work.

3M reps used to pass out sample bottles of this white lotion called "Cavilon". It didn't have dyes, perfumes, kind of smelled weird; like vegetable oil. It was wonderfully moisturizing and perfect for my sensitive skin.

Try cetaphil or aveeno eczema therapy. I have THE WORST eczema on my hands. And as all nurses know it's definitely not good to have small cuts on your skin, especially hands. These two creams help big time.

I love the homemade vegan kinds on Etsy. They come in a variety of scents. After using those, I'll never use store bought ones again.

Dr. Hauschka Hydrating Hand Cream or Weleda Skin Food are both way, way far above anything I've found at conventional drug stores. Because they're so powerful you use less. One small tube lasts me months!

Eucerin cream is great at night for chapped hands. It's gentle on sensitive skin as well.

I agree with Neutrogena hand creme. Apply at bedtime and by morning the cracks in my knuckles have disappeared and the ends of my fingers are soft again.

For daily use, I prefer Gold Bond Ultimate Healing with Aloe. I have a tube stashed in my work bag, in my car, on my end table by the couch where I sit at home, and a small tube in my jeans pocket at all times in the winter.

For extreme healing needs, I have sworn by Aquaphor for years -- just wear gloves over it at night, as others have said. I also use Aquaphor for any type of laceration or burn that is beyond the need for triple antibiotic ointment for infection needs -- heals up cuts and burns faster than I ever thought possible, and usually without any scar at all. I'm glad to hear that dermatologists are recommending it after surgical procedures now, too -- confirms what I've known since I discovered it in 2000.... this stuff works!

And yes, they do still sell Corn Husker's lotion (for whoever was asking that) .... I see it at Walmart in the specialty lotion section.

Holy MACKEREL! lol, if there's one thing we can learn from this thread, it's that there are a bazillion great moisturizing lotions out there! And what someone considers terrific, another one disliked entirely.

Kinda like the "What are the Best Nursing Shoes" and "Which Stethoscope Should I Buy" threads, it's safe to say "What is the Best Hand Cream?" is about as conclusive :)

For cracked skin? Corona ointment with lanolin and petroleum. It's actually sold in feed stores. Otherwise a tube of unscented rich hand cream between hand washing.

I enjoy a lotion called Helping Hands by Lush. It's muy bueno.
