99 Balloons - Warning. You'll probably cry your eyes out.

Here's a link to a video made by a NICU family, about the 99 days spent with their Trisomy 18 baby, Eliot. It gave me new perspective, as I have had a tough time understanding a family in our unit right now who has been requesting all kinds of advanced treatment for their trisomy 18 baby.

Can I say that you guys are an amazing bunch of people? That video was the most wonderful and heartbreaking thing I have ever seen, but to know that you NICU nurses go through this every day... God bless all of you.

And I'm crying like a baby right now.

Oh jeez....I just watched it....and my face is sopping wet.

God bless those parents...they made the most of every day for that little baby and you can see he was loved each and every day as much as he could be.

I usually cry at most things (happy or sad) - and this held true to that!

That was a beautiful video, thanks for sharing it with us Steve.

Wow! I cried like a baby. I'm going to be a dad for the first time in about 119 days (not that I'm counting! :yeah:) and I think I can emphathise with that dad more than I ever could before. I love the fact that they didn't give up on him, but didn't beat him up either. And I LOVE that verse at the end.

When I was in college, I worked with high school kids at our church. I did a camp one time where the speaker told us this story about his 2 year old daughter. They were renovating this lodge they owned (kind of a b and b/retreat center place in the mountains) and their little girl was walking with her hand on this wall of floor to ceiling windows when one pane gave way and she fell out. She fell two stories and landed on pavement. They rushed her to the hospital and she was hurt only with minor cuts.

He told the story in this really dramatic drawn out way and at this point, the room is silent. He told about thanking God for protecting his daughter. And then he said the words that I'll never forget. He said, "but here's the thing...even if she had died that day...God is STILL good." At that point, there was not a dry eye in the house. I've learned to try to always thank God for the blessings that I get, no matter what happens.

What a blessing that little boy's life was and still is. Even though I cried like a baby, my day is better for watching that.

Now, I'm NOT going to show it to my wife!! Are you kidding? She's 6 months pregnant!! AFTER our son is born, then maybe I'll show it her. :-)

Thank you for saying that, but I do have to say that I think that most of us DON'T see families like this every day. That's what makes them so special, and that's why most of us found this video so touching (at least that's how I feel!). It's sad, but alot of families faced with a lethal diagnosis want us to "fix" their baby. We wind up torturing these poor kids, rather than letting them live a life like Eliot did. Short, but full of love. Anyway, that's how I felt about the video and I sure did cry my eyes out.

We watched it at work last night....oh we were all crying. God Bless that family.

I can't say you didn't warn us, but, wow . . . just wow.

Thank you for sharing this, Steve. Good timing with Easter two days away. God heals the broken hearts. I hope this couple is blessed with more children. They are already gifted and selfless parents.

Gotta go find some Kleenex.
