99 Balloons - Warning. You'll probably cry your eyes out.

Here's a link to a video made by a NICU family, about the 99 days spent with their Trisomy 18 baby, Eliot. It gave me new perspective, as I have had a tough time understanding a family in our unit right now who has been requesting all kinds of advanced treatment for their trisomy 18 baby.

We had someone from a perinatal hospice program speak at our bereavement conference last year. It was really interesting.

As a NICU nurse and being pregnant with my first, that really got to me. What a beautiful family. I can't stop crying!

wow-I cried 10 seconds in. We had three Trisomy 18 babies in the last year.

This was a very special video and I hope for the best for that family.

I was bawling by day 24, and am still weeping.

What a wonderful couple...they really had a wonderful perspective on their son and his brief life. What a beautiful little boy.

thank you for sharing

One of our fellows was talking about a baby at the Children's Hospital that she also works about who had trisomy 18. The parents put that baby through everything - hoping for a miracle. She said that the baby had just passed away a few days ago, and she, along with the rest of the staff, were glad that the baby wasn't suffering anymore. I told her about this video and told her to watch it when she got home. When she came back the next day - she thanked me for sharing it with her - that it made her feel much better!!

Thanks again Steve!!!!!

Wow. I cried my eyes out!

I've been thinking very seriously about being an NICU nurse, but after watching this I don't know if I can do it.

Those are the kind of parents that make thankful I am a NICU nurse.
