Are nurses able to shower after shift?

Hi I was wondering if most employers have locker rooms with showers so staff can shower after shift and then go home. Well clock out, shower then go home.

If I'm covered in hydrofluoric acid then hose me down in a decon tent but other than that send me home. I hated showering in the hospital as a patient!

Home is good! I can do home very well!

We do have a shower in our ED locker room area, rarely gets used. One person stores their bike in there during their shift.

Just shower in an empty patient room. However you might be thought of as a patient and treated like one....enemas and all!

I worked at a facility that had a shower. Only time I know of that it got used was when a nursing assistant ended up with poop in her hair.

Why would you WANT to? Communal showers are gross. Shower when you get home.

There's a new hospital in town, and there's a shower in the locker rooms for L&D/PP/NICU. Not sure about the other locker rooms, as I've only toured that area. As a person who likes to bike to work or run before work, I appreciate having a shower, where I can walk onto the floor fresh and clean. I've never heard of someone regularly showering after their shift before heading home.

No we don't have showers. Best advice is take your shoes off at the door and shower when you get home. Only OR settings by us have a locker with hospital scrubs provided to wear and then leave for the hospital to clean. I don't know if they shower after or not. Regular staff doesn't have showers and come to work with scrubs they purchased themselves.

Most facilities have showers in them somewhere. I don't know of any hospitals with one on every floor (other than pt rooms of course). Most just go home and shower.

The only ones I have even seen were strictly for the medical staff; no nurses allowed.

Can't use showers in empty patient rooms. Housekeeping would have a stroke. Not allowed to even touch the clean beds, let alone use the showers or bathrooms. Patients want to know their room is clean.
