Just wondering if there is anyone else out there who has only applied to ONE program? I do not have a lot of options and wanted an Accelerated BSN, so there are only a couple schools near me that offer that. So I am anxiously waiting to hear from the ONLY school I applied to! Unfortunately, there really were not any other options for me to obtain a BSN, so I am praying I will get in! So it is out of my hands for now, I have applied, sent in my resume, admissions essay, letters of reference, and here I sit anxiously waiting to see if I get an interview and then waiting to hear if I am accepted. My GPA in the BS I already have is a 3.6, but I am just starting to the 5 science pre-reqs I need. I have all the math pre-reqs done thank goodness!
Anyone else??
I am only applying to one school as well. I still have a couple of classes to take before I can apply. Factoring into my decision was: the reputation of the school among healthcare employees, NCLEX pass rates and most importantly, their curriculum. This program for which I am applying only required me to take 2 classes before applying (I have a prior Bachelors), where other programs would require me to take up to 12. Good luck everyone!
I applied to my 1st choice in October, interviewed in December, and received my acceptance letter this week. If I had not gotten in I would have turned in my application for #2 by the end of this month. This is an accelerated program as well so I was limited in my options and none are offered yet in my home state.
I moved and finished up my prerequisites at my school of choice and I feel that was very helpful in my gaining admission to the program. I became a familiar face in the building, I got to know the staff and advisors, and my professors sang words of praise about my performance in their classes. Already being a student there gave me a lot of confidence going into the interview and it showed them that I'd already made the transition from Working World to College Student and I was commited to their program. Yeah, I know it would have really sucked if I hadn't gotten in, but I never considered that to be an option.
I also have all my eggs in one basket. I try not to worry about it though because for one thing I have a 4.0, AND I will have taken all of the pre-reqs and supporting courses once I have started the program (hopefully this fall!). Sometimes I worry and feel scared but then I try to remind myself of how it would be really bizarre if I didn't get in. I don't work, school is my life and it shows up in my GPA. I could always apply to Geroge Mason University but NVCC has a better nursing program and that is pretty well known around here, as strange as it sounds. My husband and I have made a lot of sacrifices for this journey and I am sure it will pay off.
Does anybody else get irritated when friends or family members ask if you are worried about getting in your first time applying to the program? I know my MIL has good intentions but I don't like to even consider the possibility of not getting in!
O my goodness...Where do you live Futurenovarn? I am currently staying here in Herndon, VA with my sister who just had twins. I went to the dr. yesterday and the NP there teaches at George Mason. Small world! I am trying to get accepted into one program too, but in Mississippi where I am from. Ignore other people who are asking you if you are nervous! You have an awesome PERFECT GPA! Continue to have faith in yourself and your abilities!! Only talk to people who are supportive. That will help keep you sane. Sometimes I read some of the posts here where people freak out abut HESI scores and GPA's and it bugs me b/c they can be negative. I made a 90 on my HESI, but unlike some of the other posters on here it was over everything! A&P included. Some of them did not have to rtake A&P, Chemistry and BIO. I did so my composite was a 90. According to the posters on here I will never get in with that "low" of a score. If you look at the scoring module 90-100% is considered excellent! If I were to have taken just math, vocab, reading, and grammar I would have scored a 95. I have a 3.9 on pre reqs and a previous BA with a 3.3 overall. (I am trying for an accelerated program) I guess we just have to have a little faith in ourselves and ignore other people. Everyone has a different experience and all schools are different etc.
I am applying to only 1 program. I work full-time and there are only 2 night/weekend program in MN. I figure I will have the best chance applying to the school I am currently attending. My grades are the same or better than all those that made it into the program last year, so I have high hopes. It is still a VERY stressful 4 months!!!!!!
Good luck everyone!

I applied for one school (before finishing my prereqs). After about 9 weeks of waiting to hear from them, I was gathering my information for 2 additional schools (those required letters of recommendation, which seemed to take MONTHS). But, the day my professor said he'd put my letter in the mail, I received the acceptance letter. Luckily, I live in Philadelphia, and there are a lot of nursing programs here, and a few LARGE accelerated ones. But, I got my plan A, so it is possible. Good Luck!
