Just wondering if there is anyone else out there who has only applied to ONE program? I do not have a lot of options and wanted an Accelerated BSN, so there are only a couple schools near me that offer that. So I am anxiously waiting to hear from the ONLY school I applied to! Unfortunately, there really were not any other options for me to obtain a BSN, so I am praying I will get in! So it is out of my hands for now, I have applied, sent in my resume, admissions essay, letters of reference, and here I sit anxiously waiting to see if I get an interview and then waiting to hear if I am accepted. My GPA in the BS I already have is a 3.6, but I am just starting to the 5 science pre-reqs I need. I have all the math pre-reqs done thank goodness!
Anyone else??

I will be. I am still working on my pre-reqs - we are moving to Montana in the fall of 2010 with my husbands work and I plan on finishing my BSN there, starting fall 2011. I have no other options and it is very scary. There are 172 slots and I have to file a 'special needs' form to get the campus where we will be, but no guarantee I will get that one. Needless to say I am working real hard to keep my GPA up (its a 4.0 now but I only have 2 courses) So, we aren't in the exact same position, but I understand your anxiety. Good luck, I hope you get in!!

I only applied to one program as well - Emory's BSN/MSN Segue program. I know that might not be the best decision, but that's the only school I want to go to. I'm hoping and praying that I get in because I have no backup plan! I have a BS in Psychology and a 3.496 GPA (I tried so hard to get a 3.5!), plus great LORs, internship, etc. I'm just hoping it's good enough to get in. When do you find out if you're in? Good Luck!

I'm applying to one school. I will apply to my 2nd choice school only if I don't get into my first choice.

Yes! I applied to only one school, SUNY-Downstate. My reasoning was the same as yours. I wanted an accelerated BSN, plus this is a public college and located very conveniently near my home. There are other accelerated BSN programs but they're either private and way too expensive, or too far from my home. I have a great GPA (all A's except for 2 A-minuses, not sure how those affect my GPA), and have finished all pre-reqs and other requirements. I have also volunteered in a hospital for the past 3 months. If all the above isn't enough to get me in... well, then I don't know what my next step will be. Maybe I will take it that nursing just isn't the right choice for me!

I only have one program in my area. If I don't get in, I don't have a plan B:crying2: My DH just took a job that will keep us here for at least 2 more years to give me a chance to finish school. I feel I've let him down if I don't get in.

I also just applied to one program. I want to get an accelerated BSN too. The reason why I only applied to one program is b/c I found that each school has different pre-reqs. This was very annoying to me. Some schools wanted the TEAS, some wanted the HESI A2 and some wanted the NET along with a variety of classes. I had spent a year getting the pre reqs I needed for the one school. I figure if I don't get in I will spend more time and more money getting more pre reqs neccessarily need. Ya know?? Otherwise, why would I spend more money getting pre reqs I will not need.

I just wanted to tell you guys and give you all hope that it is possible. I applied to one school in my area because out of the two that had evening programs, this one seemed to be more organized. I have been taking pre-reqs on and off since 2001 with much doubt for myself and at one point was even afraid to apply even though I wanted it so bad. I got tired of being tired, was getting no younger and applied. The school goes on a point system of a max of 12 points that only accepts 60 students and recieves about 200+ applications and I was accepted with points of 11.7448. I told myself the day I turned in my application that if it is meant to be, it will be. I will officially be a nursing student on January 12, 2009.
So if it's meant to be, it will be for all of you. There is nothing wrong with some hope and prayer when putting all your eggs in one basket. Good luck to you all and best wishes

For now I'm only applying to one school but probably apply to another sometime in the spring. If I can't get into into any program for the fall, then I'll shoot for the spring of 2010.

This is a great thread!
I'm also one of the all eggs in one basket people. I'm applying to the Duke University ABSN program for Fall 2009 admission. I actually serendipitously attended the open house in September and subsequently fell in love with the program. I felt very compelled to apply at that point, although I was finishing my last semester in my graduate program and had planned on waiting until Fall 2009 to apply to nursing programs. Something told me to do this, and I haven't looked back. I'm really excited about the process and I have a great feeling about my chances. :) I pray about it daily and solicit prayers from friends and family too. I figure if its God's will, it will be done. Good luck to everyone!

I am only applying to MUSC, I heard it was very competitive and I am so nervous. My grades are ok, but hopefully they will see more through my LOR and essay. I can't remember ever feeling this nervous about anything, its scary, but I really want to go to this school! I wish everyone the best of luck!
I find myself getting more and more nervous by the day! I think it's because I still have 5 pre-reqs to finish between now and the start of the program in Fall 2009, and I fear they will not accept me based on that. I have stopped working just to study and complete these classes in time! I'm also pregnant, so no shortgage of stress in my life at present! But I have a super support system, and I am very organized and motivated!
My only choice of school said they will make admissions decisions in March, and that seems SO far away! Hopefully I will get an interview, and hopefully they will call soon to set that up!!!
