Anyone age 35 and and up and a nursing student? (say hi)

Hi: Is anyone age 35 plus a student besides me? My classmates are all the age of my children. I am 45.

I'm 36 and love being with the younger kiddo's (see I told you i was old) because it helps me see my own kids in a different light. I would never have gotten that exposure to see my kid's not so distant future so clearly if I hadn't been in school again at this age.

I'm 37, and still working on pre-req's for the ADN program. Having to take all my science over. Hi everyone!

I will turn 44 this month. I'm getting my third college degree. This time in nursing. I wouldn't have gone back to school if the job market for nurses wasn't as good as it is, it gets real old to keep getting degrees that never pan out.:chuckle

I'm 46 and finding myself to be the oldest in most of my university classes... it's almost worse that at the community college. I don't feel old enough to be their mom... but since I have a son older than many of them, I guess that I am! In one class the person closest to my age is just 29... I have lots of experience on them! I'm enjoying every minute of being in school... but I do feel overwhelmed this week!

I'm 42 and a Freshman in a diploma RN program. I would say about a third of the class is around my age. I agree that life experience does give us an advantage.

Good luck with classes, everyone!

45 here just starting my 2nd year of an ADN program. There are actually a couple of students older than myself in my class. Loving every minute of it, but so looking foward to graduation.

Count me in! 36 until November. I LOVE being in school again and in my nursing classes I am about the average age - much better than in the prereqs.

46 here and in the second semester of my LPN Program and loving it more and more each and every day!

My plans are to begin pre-reqs for LPN to RN as soon as I survive the NCLEX

Specializes in home health, LTC, assisted living.

I do need to add I like being with the younger students, I like the energy and outlook they have on life, they are not afraid to try anything, and some of the best help I had in math was from a 20 year old classmate. She explained it better than the tutors! My son also attends the same school (different program) and is age 21. It's kind of fun seeing him there.

I will be 44 this month, there is a mix of ages in my class (1st semester in an ADN program).

However in my practice group I am paired with 3 students who are all 20, the same age as my older daughter!

I am really enjoying the program, but I find I am not as squeamish as they are about giving someone an IM with a 1 1/2" needle.

I am 43 and in my first semester of actual Nursing classes, I am a senator in the Student Govenment Association at my school. I decided that the "non-traditional" students needed representation, I am going to run for student trustee this spring.I find most of the kids wonderful and at my school the teachers are very receptive and encouraging to us "old" students say that most of us are very devoted and motivated and work hard. School has been one of the most wonderful experiances in my life

I just turned 35 last week and am in 2nd year of ADN program. About 2/3 of our class falls in the 25-30 y.o. range and we're all just living for May 2004. :roll
