I am a 48 y.o. man in the process of getting my RN. I can really identify with all of the youngin's here in my RN program

I am graduating with my BSN in a few weeks. I have been an LPN for many years but decided to go back for my BSN. I will be 40 this coming July! I am also going on for my MSN. In my opinion being an older student you are more sure of what you want and are more settled to study and achieve your goals. I started college right after high school and my biggest concern was making it to the best parties and finding the cute guys. Ha. It's never too late to finish school. One of my favorite quotes is from Thoreau " Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you've imagined."

Hello, I will be 40 in August and just found out that I was accepted to nursing school and also start in August. What a great 40th birthday present!!! I was also worried about being the oldest student but from the looks of it...I won't be.

Im 43 and am starting either this May , June or August depending on what school I decide to go to. I applied to many to not put all my eggs in one basket and I found out that my age was actually a plus!!!They like older students...

Thanks Mossback: I was feeling a little sorry for myself today. I just thought I must be to old. Can I really do this lifelong dream of mine. When I read your post I picked myself off and open my A&P book!! Thanks:bow::redbeathe

I am 35 and have two semesters left in BSN program. About 2% of my class are older the rest are early 20's.

I am 37!!! Half of the students in my class are "non traditional" students and the younger ones just blend in. We range in age from 20 to 50 :chuckle. Good luck and hang in there!

Hello!

I got my acceptance e-mail for Spring 2009 two days before my 38th birthday which was last year. BEST birthday present ever, well, 2nd best! :chuckle I am in my 2nd quarter of nursing school and will be 40 years old when I graduate. :yeah:

I'm 47, and I will be 48 when I finish!!! I am not the oldest in my class, but next to the oldest.

I am 48 years young and will be attending RN division Fall 09 at LMU. Wondering where all the "older nurses" are going to school? I think we will do just fine...

First of all what a great site this is my first post. I will be 39 in June and just finished my first year of pre-reqs and hope to start the nursing program in the fall of 2010 graduating at age 42 in 2012 with a BSN. This is also a second career for me although I have always wanted to be a nurse I married had children and just never found the time to return to school until now. I love it and am doing great so far. I am a little concerned about my age when graduating. Has anyone heard or have any experience with trying to find a job at this age? I plan on applying for a student nurse position to get my "foot in the door" but I have to have at least two clinicals done which is fine. I am just worried I will go through school and then not be able to actually work as a nurse.
