Anyone age 35 and and up and a nursing student? (say hi)

Published

Hi: Is anyone age 35 plus a student besides me? My classmates are all the age of my children. I am 45.

Specializes in acute.

Hi: I will be 50 this June and I will start Nursing School this fall. It does not matter the age, it is really our own personal journey.:heartbeat

Patty here. I'm in my last semester of a two-year program graduating in May. I'm 44, and started back to school just over 4 years ago. Can't wait for GRADUATION!!!!

:yeah:

Glad there is someone my age out there. It's just as you said, learning is lifelong. I'm starting FCH's online rn to bsn in May. I've been an RN for many years, but never got my BSN. This is just a personal goal. I'm looking forward to it.

Im 58 and have just been accepted into nursing school. As it so happens, the first day of school will also be my 59th birthday. It's a long awaited birthday present!

Assuming I make it through school, I should graduate at age 60 with a BSN (it'll be my second bachelor's degree).

Where are you going? I'm in a second Bacc program too.

I'll be attending California State University Sacramento.

I'll be attending the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, but it sounds like a similar program. Fast track, one year to BSN? Good luck to you. I'll be 53 when I start, just turned 54 when I finish. I think I'm the oldest one in my class, by like double, but that just means I have lots more life experience to draw on! Hope we'll have time to stay in touch on the board!

The second bachelors program at CSUS used to go 15 months straight, but it has been changed to a two-year conventional program for the fall '09 cohort.

Sadly, I'm among the last 40 students to be part of the second bachelor's program. It's being cut at CSUS as part of California's budget trimming efforts.

Ours is 12 months, pretty intense. Texas Women's is 15 months I think. I'm so sorry to hear that. You should come to Texas ; ) Our program is expanding! I know things are really tough in CA right now. Good luck to you!

I am 52 and graduate in May!!! When we go to clinicals I am often mistaken for the instructor!!! There are a couple of kids my kids went to school with in my class! :nurse: It's tough as hell but I'm glad I did it and glad it's almost over!!!

Specializes in Ortho/Neuro, Med/Surg.

I am ummm...included this "club" at the age of 43.

I became a LPN way back in 1987.

So, now after 22 years of raising 3 kids, re-taking all of my pre-requisites as they expired 15 years ago, I havebeen accepted into the RN program in Portland, Oregon.

I am soooo excited to finally be in a program to get the ADN then the BSN !

Kudos to you! You and I are in a similiar situation. We can do it!! I'd like to keep in touch with you to see how things are going. Maybe in some way or fashion we can help each other. Keep your eyes on the goal!! I'm new to this site, so please forgive me if I have not responded correctly.
