Published

Hi: Is anyone age 35 plus a student besides me? My classmates are all the age of my children. I am 45.

Just turned 35 in Aug. I am in the first semester of an ADN program and the age range for our class of 95 students is from 19-59. So I dont feel like grandpa sitting in class. The median age is around 27 though. Hopefully I will have the energy to continue all the way through until I attain CRNA status but that is a long way off so I am just concentrating on the here and now and just doing the best I can do. HANG IN THERE GUYS AND GALS !!!!

Hi, I'm 47, currently in my third semester of an ADN program. All pre-req's are done have ~15 hrs towards BSN. I'm a good 10yrs. older than the rest of the class and that's okay. I'm taking a night class, HIS towards the BSN, lots of older people like me there. Mother of three boys, will be a first time grandma in November!!!

35 and male. Can't wait to finish.

Wait a minute! I must be slightly brain dead....I am thirty seven about to me thirty eight. Whoa.

Specializes in CCRN.

I turn 39 next week and am planning on continuing with education after completing my ADN, final goal Nurse practitioner. Hopefuly I can squeeze it all in! Finnaly decided what I wanted to be!

I just turned 35 the end of August. :o It is so depressing. I had to fill out an information sheet the other day and realized that I am no longer in the 25-34 category, but now must check the 35-44 box when asked my age.

I am finishing my pre-req's and should be starting the ADN program in January. In my pre-nursing classes, there haven't been very many 18 yr olds. Mostly late 20's and 30's with a few in their 40's and 50's.

Good luck to everyone!

I am 41, and most students seem to be in there 20's, though everyone is real nice. I am completely comfortable with young adults, so I am having fun. I haven't found many my age, and many of them drop out during the semester when I do find them. I will be starting the program next fall. Whooo hooo class of 06!!! Heather

Specializes in Emergency & Trauma/Adult ICU.

Hello all ...

I'm 36 and will graduate from a diploma program in 2005 - went back to school at 35. My class is a real mix, from 18-year olds right out of high school to some who are close to 50. Sometimes the bits of the 18-year olds' conversations I overhear make me cringe, but then ... one of them complimented my shoes one day - I must still be cool!

Good luck to all - I'd love to hear from other "old schoolers."

Hi! Im 39 and have been taking prereqs, i hope to be in the nursing program either in the spring or fall. I know what you mean though, everyone is young. I do have older students in my classes too. I think the oldest in my Intro to Nursing is 47. I wish everyone the best of luck. I know we can do it!!!

I was 53 when I went to LPN school, you will find that your life experiences help a lot. There were days when I felt like I didn't fit in with the younger crowd but they were far and few between. One of my instructors was the same age as me and we were great friends. It was one of the best things I ever did for myself and I love nursing. Hang in there girl.

Hello!

I'm 36 and in my first semester of RN classes. I've been working as an LPN for 8 years. Alot of my classmates are in their 30's and 40's so I don't feel alone.
