** Any Class of '09ers out there?? Post here!!!

Published

i noticed the thread in the prenursing forum about class of '08 and i did post there but thought maybe i would start a thread specifically for '09 and see who is out there!! (plus it would suck when everyone graduated and left me alone in the post haha) i'm using the same format as that post because it was so good. post your info. here and introduce (or re-introduce) yourself!! it would be great to be able to support one another right to the end!!

name: karen

school: brandon university, canada

program: 4 yr. bachelor of nursing

what area of interest at this time: i am just really open to anything at this point .. so much to learn and i feel that this is just opening up to me and i will figure out where my interest lies.

biggest fear: not sure of that either. i am not sure if i will gag over anything or not. maybe my biggest fear would be looking stupid, but heaven knows i've done enough of that!

what you'd like us to know about you: i'm a mom of 4 (2 boys, 2 girls) and have worked (and still do) as a christian camp director for the past 5 years. i'm really enjoying university again. i graduated back in '85 with a b.ed. the next year i took a stats course and didn't go back until 2005 fall .. so on paper it took me 26 years to complete my pre-reqs haha .. in reality i (mostly) did them all since last fall!

my really neat thing this year is that my oldest daughter is going to be going to university at the same time as me but taking music! that is a very unique opportunity!!

i'm looking forward to talking with you all and helping to encourage you any way i can! :roll

Name: Indigo

School: Tarleton State University (Texas)

Program: 4 yr. Bachelor of Science, Nursing

What area of interest at this time: I think I'm aiming toward surgical or neurosurgical nursing.

Biggest fear: To fail a clinical and thus have gradation delayed...or even be removed from the program.

What you'd like us to know about you: I'm a 34yr old ex-housewife with no children and an aging mother who will need my support almost as soon as I graduate.

Welcome, Becky and Indigo!! Great to see a couple more '09ers!!!

Well, peeps, I got my book list and it's a doozy! They say to count on about $2400 if I didn't already mention that. Anyhoo .. there are 21 books on the list and then an outline of what books we will need in which courses for the three terms. Suddenly I feel a migraine coming on!! j/k

Hope everyone is doing okay! What are you all up to today?

name: kayla

school: west liberty state college, wheeling, wv

program: bsn

what area of interest at this time: i want to work in the ob. i'm not really sure what area in the ob but i know that i want to work around the babies and the mothers.

biggest fear: not becoming a nurse. i've wanted to be a nurse since practically the 7th grade and i was 12 then.

what you'd like us to know about you: i a raised a navy child and i went from school to school. and i never really had to try and now i do. i'm scared that i'm not smart emough to make it. i'm shy, but if i get to know you i'm pretty cool. another scary part about me is that i've never had a boyfriend in my life and i'm 18. i feel like it's never going to happen. i'm quiet but at the same time i talk a lot. yeah i can't think of what else to say. lol

what you'd like us to know about you: have a previous degree in international business and french. hoping to integrate nursing with my international experience eventually.

Hello-

Twiddling my fingers until classes start. I've screwed up my clinical. We get a choice of sections, and I orignally signed up for one with my friend. Well my friend has moved sections, and left me behind. There's no room in the section she moved to and now I have to hope for a new friend who might give me a ride to clinicals. I'm not too upset, because if all else fails, I'll get my newly retired father to drive me. Anyway, I like the days for the section. It gives me two days off in the middle of the week.

I might be a class of "09" er :) I am waiting on my call for this semester if I don't make it this semster I KNOW I'll get in next semester and that would give me a graduation date of May 2009 :)

I hope you get in! When will you know? Welcome to our little thread!

How is everyone doing? It's 1 month 10 days until my classes start .. or something like that! Hope everyone is enjoying the summer!

Program: BSN

Biggest fear: Getting into the MSN program after completing the BSN and taking the NCLEX

What Id like for you to know: Nursing school is tough. I use to be part of the 08 class but had to drop out after the first semester due to surgery. Expect the unexpected. If a teacher says it wont be on the exam study it anyway because I guess they tend to forget. Dont let pharmacology get you down. When they say come in to practice clinicals, then come in and practice. Dont fall behind on ready, there is alot of material so pace yourself. Get chummy with the professors, you will need good references in the future, and dont be afraid to ask for help if you need it. Good luck.
