i noticed the thread in the prenursing forum about class of '08 and i did post there but thought maybe i would start a thread specifically for '09 and see who is out there!! (plus it would suck when everyone graduated and left me alone in the post haha) i'm using the same format as that post because it was so good. post your info. here and introduce (or re-introduce) yourself!! it would be great to be able to support one another right to the end!!

name: karen

school: brandon university, canada

program: 4 yr. bachelor of nursing

what area of interest at this time: i am just really open to anything at this point .. so much to learn and i feel that this is just opening up to me and i will figure out where my interest lies.

biggest fear: not sure of that either. i am not sure if i will gag over anything or not. maybe my biggest fear would be looking stupid, but heaven knows i've done enough of that!

what you'd like us to know about you: i'm a mom of 4 (2 boys, 2 girls) and have worked (and still do) as a christian camp director for the past 5 years. i'm really enjoying university again. i graduated back in '85 with a b.ed. the next year i took a stats course and didn't go back until 2005 fall .. so on paper it took me 26 years to complete my pre-reqs haha .. in reality i (mostly) did them all since last fall!

my really neat thing this year is that my oldest daughter is going to be going to university at the same time as me but taking music! that is a very unique opportunity!!

i'm looking forward to talking with you all and helping to encourage you any way i can! :roll

Specializes in Recovery Room.

I graduate July 31st at 7pm from my accelerated BSN program! If I counted correctly that's only 48 days....

I am now officially a class of 10'er as I failed my 3rd semester math comp test by 2 lousy points, and my school only give one chance a semester. But, 2 weeks ago I recieved my welcome back letter and yesterday got re-enrolled in the college and registered for my Fall class. It is kind of a pain because although I am a 2nd year, I still have to repeat my physical, TB skin test, background check and CPR class just like a first year student! I have taken lots of skin tests and I was due to take one anyway and my CPR expired last month, so those aren't too bad, but the background check was 65.00:eek:! And I just did one in 07 and when I graduate I will probably have to have a another one for work plus fingerprinting! Trust me this is wasted money, lol,I am not interesting enough for all this checking! The worst thing I've ever done in 42 years of life is drink a wine cooler when I was underage...

biggest fear: crashing and burning during my first year!!! :uhoh21: already on second week of orientation for a med/surg unit, and the paperwork and documentation is overwhelming. the people are really nice, and the groups are set up in teams as opposed to one nurse is responsible for so and so and another is for another group of patients. so i really like that concept... it fosters and promotes teamwork! i know i'll always have suport and backup if i really need it... which i will, lol. crazy thing is that i'm not even worried about the patient care aspect... im worried about not completeing documentation and getting all of that done on time! like im afraid i'll forget to look for an order or something and wont get a med to a patient because of it.

yup, i can definitely relate to this! good luck on your upcoming exam!! ours was approx. 300 questions .. no breaks for us .. lol .. ugh ..

Graduation is approximately 4 days away!!!! :D:eek::lol_hitti:cheers::smiley_aa:anpom::grad::dncgbby::hpygrp:

My name is Regan and I'm 27 from VA. I just graduated May 15th and took boards this past Thursday. It shut off at 75 and I passed!! Good luck and congrats to everyone!!

I am graduating this December from North Central Texas College with my LVN degree. I am super excited and am more than ready to get out there and start nursing because that's whats it's all about, caring and compassion. :redpinkhe

At the moment I'm looking at either geriatrics or oncology. The latter is due to losing my grandad to cancer last spring. He had such wonderful nurses and I am so excited to be joining this exciting profession!
