And you thought a thong beneath whites was bad...

A girl in my class has several surface piercings. If you don't know what that is exactly, it's when the piercer takes a stud - much like the ones used in ears, but instead of an earring back it has a little flat disc welded onto it - and makes a tiny cut in the skin, inserts the stud and voila! It looks like a diamond (cubic zirconia) is sitting on the surface of your skin - kind of like the little sparkly stud nose rings.

Anyway, a girl in my class has one of these piercings RIGHT ABOVE HER BUTT CRACK! No lie. She also insists on folding over the top band of her scrubs "to make them fit better", which shorten the top part of the scrubs which makes her butt - and her piercing - show every time she bends over. Once, a patient got a real good long look too. And the nurses at the nursing home won't even talk to her because she offended so many of the residents. Our instructor has talked to her about her pants but she still hasn't done anything about it!

I just think it's funny...and slightly annoying. I have tattoos on my arms. I ALWAYS wear a long sleeved short so that they're not showing. I also take my nose ring out before clinical. This is our school policy. It's kind of annoying that I go to such lengths to follow policy and she keeps flashing her butt to people without consequence.

So...hot pink/red/blue/polka dotted thongs beneath whites are NOT the worst thing in the world lol. I think the only thing worse than a diamond above your butt crack would be a tramp stamp LMAO.

LOL! Over the top! People are truly silly! But on a professional note; that should have stopped the moment it was identified. Our program will not tolerate anything less than complete professionalism.

Kinda OT: When the whole "butt cleavage" movement started I was like "uh...why?..." but when an attractive girl does it I am in favor...but NOT in that environment. Sorry just being honest...

Seriously, I am very laid back in a clinical setting but would have difficulty with this. The instructor needs to put on her big girl panties (no pun intended) and dock the student a few points for lack of professionalism. I mean, it's up to the student what she chooses to pierce, but if she's folding down her pants and her unders so everyone can see the piercing in the clinical setting, uh, that is not acceptable.

Wouldn't a piercing in, um, that area HURT?

So it's like a Bea-dazzler and she took it too far? It amazes me that your instructor would tolerate flagrant disregard for dress code rules and who wants to liaison with a clinical site where the residents are offended?

I never knew those tattoos were called "tramp stamps" but once again allnurses has helped me expand my vocabulary . . .

Tramp stamp - ... A tramp stamp, also known as fart wings, s1ut butt, slag tag, a$$ antlers, or respect-me-not, is a tattoo on the lower back that lets you ... :uhoh21:

My school works very hard to find and keep clinical sites. Here's how my school handles things like this:

First time: "Cover that up."

Second time: "Get off the floor. Right now."

LMAO - but you don't go walking around at clinicals, showing it to old men and cardiac patients, do you?

Heck no, LOL! :D

This whole thread has made me laugh out loud quite a bit! If I were in her class, I would have no problem tattling on her to the instructors. Just wait after class (or clinicals) and talk to the instructor privately. Someone should put a stop to this! If you are worried about reprisals from the butt-crack girl, your instructor should be able to keep it confidential that you are the one who "told" on her. You could also just invite the instructor in to observe some situation where you know this girl will be bending over...

Sounds pretty hot.

Nothing surprises me anymore. 99% of my students are professional, but it seems there is always one who has to be told. Last year I had to tell a student at a professional conference that professional attire is typically expected to cover your butt. Recently had to tell another that spandex pants are also not professional. The whole time I kept thinking: "I can't believe you have to TELL someone that if you can perform a visual gyne exam, the outfit just might not be appropriate."

I'd totally laugh out loud if I saw that. I don't think it's hot. Believe me, if I did think it was hot I'd point that out as well. I just think it's stupid.

"Tramp Stamp"....heh heh heh.....thanks for the new term! :)

Ummmm...I have a tramp stamp. :) But it is the Chinese symbol for family, so does that make it less trampy???
