ANC Nov Board & M5 ID

Published

I wanted to start a thread for all of the people who are waiting for the November ANC selection board, specifically if you have/waiting on the M5 identifier for Emergency Nursing. I thought we could suffer together and update each other while we wait. You are welcome to post if you have another specialty or none at all.

My status:

I have submitted all documents, and waiting on M5 identifier approval, physical approval and for the packet to make it past QA.

I spoke to my recruiter today, he said the earliest I would hear anything would be tomorrow, most likely next week, and they have up to 30 days to get the results out. He also said I would be selected, not selected, or put on some sort of alternate list (I couldn't make out the acronym, MOL I think) Good luck everyone.

Vekrause,

OML is the 'order of merit list'

good luck on your packet~

I would say OML is better than SOL, yes? :D Hardy har har! Don't mind me, this is all just driving me insane! I will definitely let anyone know if I hear anything else. I'm trying really, really hard to refrain from pestering my recruiter -- I know she'll call me as soon as she knows anything. She is awesome. In the meantime, I got hired on per diem/PRN at the Level 2 ED near my house ... just trying to keep busy, you know how it is. :)

Hope everyone has a fabulous Thanksgiving! We're doing ours tomorrow, because we're both working on Thursday. Off to make pies!

Good luck to all on the November Board. Its been almost a year since I have been back on here however I was just commissioned as 1LT, AOC: 73A, Medical Service Corps. I will be in the January OBLC class. Keep us updated on the results. :D:D

I spoke with my recruiter today too, both my M5 identifer and my packet still show pending.... We'll see. I remember last year when one of the nurses I worked with went through the process, she got boarded in November right before thanksgiving and didn't hear back for over two weeks. It would be nice to hear before the holiday but I doubt it. I'm going out of state for the holiday so at least I will be busy and keep my mind occupied. I'll keep you all "posted" if I hear anything.

As hopeful as I am, I am trying to preparing myself for a possible, "No." Of course I will be crushed...this is something that I have wanted to do since I was eight years old. I don't know if any of you remember the Cherry Ames Army Nurse book series, but that is what started this journey for me. Although the benefits are awesome and the experience would be incredible, I truly want to do this because I want to serve. I cannot think of a more honorable way to spend the rest of my nursing career, than to care for the US soldiers and their families. So if I am not selected, I have to be OK with that, and know that there must be something else in store for my life. Please everyone, keep us posted, and have a Happy Thanksgiving. :heartbeat

daisy, from your profile, you have 14 years experience as a critical care and ER nurse. Its not if, its when. The military needs experienced critical care nurses. Did you get your M5 identifier done? I think you'll be fine hang in there. Good luck

Daisy,

Even though you applied for ANCP, remember you already a nurse with critical care or ER experience...I would say you have high potential to get selected.. Just came to my mind, I have co-worker in CVICU with ADN but, she is the one who is taking care of complex heart patients because she is more capable than a new grad like me:D with BSN..

Got an email from my recruiter today ...

"Your application packet was boarded this week. We're still waiting for the results and it will take another 2 weeks to a month before those will be released. I will call you once I hear anything at all."

So there it is! Either way, I'm in the home stretch, kinda. :D

Well at least someone heard something, lol. I haven't heard hide nor hair since like the 14th or 15th, ha.

I found out yesterday 11/23 that my M5 Identifer was approved. I guess thats a step in the right direction.... Like everyone else, I'm still waiting on the board results. I hope we hear something today but it would come as a surprise, I would think it going to be a short day and nobody will be back to work til Monday. We'll see I guess.

Well, my packet was boarded. Can anyone tell me if that is a good thing. There was an article that came out yesterday in a travel nurse magazine about recruiting nurses in the Army. The chief nurse of the US Army made the comment that "We need critical care nurses." The article went on to talk about how the Army's funding for continuing education and bonus money. After reading the article, I felt a little better knowing that we are still in demand after all. :)
