  1. Well, I did take a little bit of a pay cut, but I am still so excited about the move! I think the cost of living is low, so it will all even out. What part of the country are you coming from?
  2. I will send you a PM tomorrow. Just got off work and I am exhausted. But I can tell you one thing...go for it! I can't wait to get back to Abilene, and to spend the rest of my career at Hendrick Medical Center. :redpinkhe
  3. Can anyone give some information on Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. I am considering relocating to the area, and could use some helpful tips. It appears that this is a nice place to work, but most hospital websites will only share their positive side. I don't want to be negative, just realistic. Thank you.
  4. OK...What is so bad about this hospital? Is it the attitudes of the other nurses? Is it the nurse to patient ratio? Is it the fact that Tenet has such a bad reputation? I have an interview there and have considered relocating, and I need to know some information. Please be more specific...No teamwork, lack of support from management, low salaries, no chance for advancement, no lunch breaks, short staffing, overloaded with patients...OK, I guess I was venting a little about my current place of employment. Every place has it's negative side, especially in today's world of medicine... Thank you.
  5. The Board was unable to make their decision based on my GPA for the RN to BSN program because final grades are not posted until December. There were a ton of applicants, so I am sure they had to keep the rules very stringent with who they would select. I had a huge lump in my throat for about an hour and tears welling up in my eyes, but that all went away when I put my entire focus on my patients. When I found out that I was not selected, I was at work in the ER and some of my team mates were working on a full arrest that ended up not making it. I saw so many situations that were worse off than mine. I then began to than God for the life that he has given me, and knew in my heart that He knows what is best for me. It's like I told God what my plan was, and he laughed at me. (I know I have heard that said somewhere else before.) I am on track to graduate in December 2012. I currently have a 3.9 GPA, so I will continue to work hard and reapply next year. I want to be an Army nurse, so I will continue to try...but how many times, I don't know. I guess until I get too old.
  6. Thanks, Emv I didn't realize it was that tight. Wow! Who would have ever guessed? I am starting to feel better already. I will just continue to live my life and be the best mom, wife and nurse that I possibly can.
  7. My recruiter stated that there were more applicants than slots for active duty, but that the results for those have not been released yet. Reserve Duty slots have not been filled yet, but ANCP and active are filled for fiscal year 11. Maybe next year. Thank you for all of your words of encouragement.:redpinkhe There must be a different plan for me. Only time will tell.
  8. Not Selected....GPA wasn't high enough from when I completed my ADN in 1997. GPA from this semester of the RN to BSN do not get posted until Decmeber, so they couldn't look at that. There were more applicants than slots and even with all of my years of experience, they weeded my packet out based on GPA. Maybe next year...then again, maybe it just wasn't meant to be. Good luck to everyone.
  9. What an awesome weekend! After being able to complete two term papers, and still have time to breathe before I get ready for work tonight, I know now that anything is possible. Hopefully we will all get the news we have been waiting for this week! Daisy:redbeathe
  10. Well, my packet was boarded. Can anyone tell me if that is a good thing. There was an article that came out yesterday in a travel nurse magazine about recruiting nurses in the Army. The chief nurse of the US Army made the comment that "We need critical care nurses." The article went on to talk about how the Army's funding for continuing education and bonus money. After reading the article, I felt a little better knowing that we are still in demand after all. :)
  11. As hopeful as I am, I am trying to preparing myself for a possible, "No." Of course I will be crushed...this is something that I have wanted to do since I was eight years old. I don't know if any of you remember the Cherry Ames Army Nurse book series, but that is what started this journey for me. Although the benefits are awesome and the experience would be incredible, I truly want to do this because I want to serve. I cannot think of a more honorable way to spend the rest of my nursing career, than to care for the US soldiers and their families. So if I am not selected, I have to be OK with that, and know that there must be something else in store for my life. Please everyone, keep us posted, and have a Happy Thanksgiving. :heartbeat
  12. What does it mean when you say your packet has been boarded? What are the final results? I am assuming that "final results" means the final selections. I am trying to prepare myself for the possibility of a ,"NO," but it's really difficult. I am nervous.
  13. Elumine, I am an ADN with fourteen years of experience. I am in an RN to BSN program. That's why I have applied for ANCP.
  14. I applied for ANCP for fiscal year 11. Is anyone else waiting to hear if they have been selected for ANCP, or is most everyone hoping to go directly into OBC? The only info that my recruiter gave me, was that there are only a certain amount of scholarships and they are given on a first come/first serve basis. Thanks.
