HM-RN, I an in the same same situation for your ground pounding sister service. The best advice that I have from others who are currently in the ER CNS role is to get the certifications for ER Nursing (CEN, CPEN, CCRN) and any Navy specialty identifier, and then get the acute care CNS. The position is then managed by the detainers or branch manager. Let me know what you find out, but I have not found a program either that offers this.
  2. Ok Lunah I have been dwaddling, so not like me! But I am gearing up to take this test again. I took it once in September almost blind (no study), did not pass. Took the GRE the next day(that is where my study efforts were concentrated) and did really well. The time has come to take this test again, So I am hopefully going to do a lot better this time.
  3. Lunah that is what I am currently using. I can attempt to get an electronic copy for you, but the time frames are the same.
  4. I am looking at ER charts that are paper, and focusing on Triage and Lenght of Stay. I am not sure where to begin with this.
  5. Does anyone have a chart audit form that they would be willing to share? I need to develop something, and i have no idea where to start. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. :)
  6. I am having mine repaid right now. The OTSG releases 40K annually, up to 3 years. 10K is deducted off top for federal taxes, none is deducted for state. The rest is sent directly to lenders. You are responsible for any interest that accrues while they are in repayment process. To start repayment process, I had to send 1059 and certificate of completion of BOLC, copies of orders that brought me on to AD, copies of current loan statement and submit info from my commander. Then OTSG sent letter of good standing to CDR that had to be completed and returned. My funds have not been released yet, I can not tell you what will happen after that.
  7. We have different housing requirements, but I have heard anything north of exit 6 is safe. I am still in BOLC with Lunah(she's my roommate:)) so I do not have solid info as of yet. I am going to the ED there, so I will be able to give you some info in June after I sign in. I will PM you my number.
  8. So not to beat a dead horse... Listen to Lunah, and heed the advice. (We are roommates, so no need for double posts LOL) I am trying to cut down on her Allnurses work load, because I need her to work for me Take the hydration seriously, be responsible for your own health. However, if for some reason, you start to feel bad, TELL SOMEONE! The last thing you want to do is risk your life, or long term health for an Army course. Nothing is worth that, and that is the take away message that all of the instructors will give you in the field. Most of them are retired 1SG's, so they played this game for a while, and have been training soldiers for a very long time. PT, PT, PT. You don't have to be a stud, but you need to pass. No if, and or but why. Unfortunately the Army has been and will continue to be an organization that equates your overall performance with your physical ability. Not to debate the right or wrong of this, but it just is. If you can not pass your PT Test, it will bring negative attention to yourself. Attitude. Remember you are coming to a place where mostly everyone is Type A+, Everyone is at a different stage in their life, so you will have many different perspectives, outlooks and opinions. Take it with a grain of salt, don't take it personal. Be courteous to your classmates when offering a correction on uniform, appearance, military bearing etc. It is a very small Army, AMEDD is even smaller, and you will see your BOLC buddies again. Partying. Have fun, enjoy San Antonio, but remember that you will see these people again...don't be a jackass. Parting words, don't be that guy, or that girl
  9. For any of my BOLC 11-113 peeps, I started a facebook page for us.I created a group for the general class, and one for nurse track. Search for it by class name.
  10. Also if anyone else is in San Antonio, I am here too. I checked into building 592 this morning at 1130. FYI That is the post hotel (Big IHG sign out front across parade field from AMEDD Museum) I was hoping to get a room assigned on post as to avoid the morning commute, and traffic coming from the airport. It is a short drive, but why add additional stress? If anyone else is here, if you do decide to check in early, you will be charged the gov't. rate of $79/nightly until the 23rd, on which, the Army will pick up the tab for the duration of your course. I have not seen what the rooms look like as of yet. I am still waiting to be informed that my room is ready. So I am officially homeless for a few more hours. If you check in early you do not have to be in uniform, I did, and was stuck in it, and therefore limited in options of places to go until room is ready. They will need 1 copy of orders, a driver's license/mil ID, and a credit card. If anyone is flying in and needs to be picked up from the airport on tuesday, PM me and I will try to be available. Safe Traveling everyone!
  11. I may be a little late, but the Black Beret with the light blue flash is the authorized headgear for all soldiers when in the garrison(any where other than the field almost) environment. Yes you are authorized. Please do not make the mistake of walking around post with the patrol cap on unless you are under specific instructions to wear it, or are on a work detail. That is a pet peeve of many Commanding Officers, and CSM's. Do not give anyone the ability to make an example out of you. :)
  12. Well there are some people that have never been exposed to military life, that think Rover can stay with them....or that Nemo's bowl will be fine in the tent as long as it is not in direct sunlight On a serious note, I would like to drive too. Last time I went to SA for a class I split a rental with a few classmates. I would rather not have the hassle. There are a few more places I would like to visit. I am so glad to be going when the weather is nice:)
