Hey Everyone!!! It is getting SO CLOSE!!! I start my longggg drive (from Boston) to Fort Sam two weeks from today! My family decided it would be cool if we made the travel into a mini vacation (kinda a last family vacation thing). So now there is 4 of us road tripping it!!! Is everyone else bringing there cars? Also I got my uniforms today (now it feels real). Since I have no experience what so ever in the military it felt very weird to be in an army uniform! I didn't get my Dress Blues today though, my recruiter thought it would be a good idea to wait until I get to Texas since there is a possibility that we wont even need them at BOLC. How do you guys feel about this and did u get your dress blues? Also how many others are going straight to El Paso for the OR training course... I know one other person is but anyone else??? Also Im going to be stationed at Fort Carson (Colorado) and wondering if im the only one on allnurses? Can't wait to meet all of you, and also who wants to do some PT on 22 August... I still need to work on sit-ups and looking for tips!

AN2011: Did you get a packing list with your orders? If so is there a way you could possible send me it in an email? Thank you for responding! where is your final duty station?

Hey so... I got my orders from my recruiter... but not my official ones. Did everybody get the official ones??? hmmm. Also did anyone receive a packing list w. their orders? if so is it possible for someone to send them to me? BOLC IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! yikes!

Lunah you only had 2 weeks w. orders!??? YIKES! I am so nervous to give notice w. out orders because that would be my luck... them telling me "Ohh we ment NEXT august". Haha maybe I am just a little paranoid with this since the whole process of joining the ANC has been such a rollercoaster ride. I was already told where my first duty station will be so do you think it is safe to say its definite? I want to give my employer a month notice beacause where I work they are limited on staff members to cover shifts and I don't want to cause a hassel for my co-workers. I have not even seen any unofficial orders yet... so I am really hesistant and unsure what to do in this situation. My recruiter just keeps telling me to be patient... I guess I gotta get used to being patient since I hear the Army is ALLLLL about hurry up and wait haha. But thanks for the heads up Lunah and Lalo Im also happy to know im not alone!

Hey so I was just wondering if you happened to receive your orders yet? I haven't and I'm starting to stress even more than I was! Hopefully they will come soon... 22 august is coming up real fast...Yikes!

Oh so we're doing the same program, thats awesome! How long have you been a nurse and do you have any previous military experience? I have no military experience so it should be real interesting haha. I'm glad that I may actually sort of know someone before I go. It's crazy how fast everything came up... first I was put on the OML (TWICE) now all of a sudden I have to think about buying uniforms and looking for a place to live... -Lindsay

Hey I'm so happy that someone on here is actually going to the August class. I have not received my orders yet either. Im hoping they come real soon since I am skeptical about buying my uniforms and plane ticket if I don't have the definite orders. This has been a long process and I was told many things that didn't end up happening. But I talked to the major who is in charge of the special program I'm going to be in and he said I already had my duty station ( fort bliss) on file. What is your identifier? I am going straight to the OR course after bolc.... Hope to hear from u and can't wait to go!!!

Anyone going to the Aug bolc get their orders yet??

Hey everyone, This is a question for those already in the Army Nurse Corps and had their student loans repayed. I was just wondering when the army makes the first payment of $40,000 and if people actually had the total $120,000 payed. Thank you!

Hey everyone, I figured since there is a thread for the July BOLC I thought I should start one for those attending the August BOLC. I was originally on the OML but was given the option of going active and attending the OR track. I happily accepted the opportunity!!! I received confirmation that I would be attending the Aug BOLC course then heading straight to WBAMC for the 4 month OR training course. My final duty station is still in the works... I just know it will either be Walter Reed or WBAMC (my fingers are crossed for Walter Reed). Looking forward to meeting everyone and starting my Army Career as a nurse!! -Lindsay

Hello everyone, like Mitch I am also new to allnurses but have been following this thread for a long time. I was put on the OML during the November Boards, but about a week and a half ago my recruited called me and told me I was selected for active duty,. then commisioned 2 days later... (WOOHOOOO!! ). I need to wait until October however to go to BOLC (prior obligations) but my recruiter said that shouldn't be a problem. I'm just writing to introduce myself to allnurses and I actually had the same question Mitch had.... when I should expect a call from HR for BOLC dates and assignment choices? I am excited for all of you guys leaving in March!!!!!!!!
