  1. Not sure about the other branches, but you might want to talk to an Army Reserve recruiter. The STRAP program will give you a stipend ($2K) a month to go to school. Your only requirement will be to finish your BSN, with your military obligation starting after graduation. One downfall is you owe 2-1 on payback, but if you only take 1 year of STRAP, you'll owe two, and your obligation is probably for 3 anyways. If you want AD, you will get locked into the Reserves until you pay back your time. Either way, a recruiter is your best bet to answer most questions.
  2. I had my paperwork (DD 368) sent to the wrong person twice by two different people, had to get the IG involved, MEPS and a new application again, finally get my contract signed and it didn't get sent, and the assignments person is TDY for two weeks. Waiting till Monday and I'll start calling like crazy. My wife separates from the AF this summer, sold our house and have the packers coming in a week (on the AF dime) but have no place to send it. I feel your pain...
  3. As far as owing time/money, the Reserves told me it's Reserve money I borrowed, therefore I owe the Reserves. A little deeper digging and I found out that's not the case. Regardless, one still needs to honor their commitment to the Reserves (drills, etc.) until officially released to AD.
  4. I'm follwing up as much as possible. I've asked my Commander to inquire into as much as he can, and the civilian staff at APMC is working it too. As far as the 90 day rule, there is an "understanding" at USAREC that the 368 may take awhile and the rule is overlooked. Bottom line, it can take months (up to 10 I've heard) and you can only bug so many people up the chain of command, and the General will sign it when they can.
  5. It's been trying at times, but things seem to be moving along now. My recruiter told me I've been selected, and there is a spot, somewhere, for me. I was told as long as everything get finished up by the end of the fiscal year I'm ok. I have a call into Mr. M as he was following up today on the status of my paperwork. I may use Col K's open door policy based on what information Mr. M can get.
  6. I'm in the same boat as you New1LT. Waiting on my 368, sent through APMC back in mid August. I've been in touch with APMC to track it, still waiting to hear back. You said you have 60 days or you lose your spot? What spot is that?
  7. I was told one of my pending issues was a waiver for my rank, I was boarded as a 1st LT so my recruiter said I should maintain it. We'll see, but I won't argue the point, in is in.
  8. Do the contracts specify what course? From what I read, you're guaranteed a course, but not a specific one. Also, I was told that the Army has up until you have one year left to get you to your course.
  9. I believe new1LT is like me, a Reservist going Active. I just completed my 4 week BOLC-RC (Reserve Component) in Oct.
  10. Finally called/got the call. Selected as a 66H, still pending my 368 and rank waiver. Was told there was only 56 of nearly 300. Congrats and good luck.
  11. just talked to my recruiter, he said only the ANCP results are in...
  12. "After reading the article, I felt a little better knowing that we are still in demand after all." I received a letter from the Air Force saying they needed nurses, etc, etc. My wife is AD USAF and I know there are a few people leaving, so I called to inquire. The recruiter told me they overboarded, meeting this years quota with last years pool. "Call me in Feb for FY12 boards" Navy recruiter at the AACN NTI in DC told me the same thing. Yes nurses are needed, its just a matter of when. Something else to take into consideration, 80% of Army medicine comes from the Reserve side.
  13. I spoke to my recruiter today, he said the earliest I would hear anything would be tomorrow, most likely next week, and they have up to 30 days to get the results out. He also said I would be selected, not selected, or put on some sort of alternate list (I couldn't make out the acronym, MOL I think) Good luck everyone.
  14. I'm going for my BSN through the SARNTP pilot as an Army Reservist and was informed that you can not utilize TA and STRAP together.
  15. Hello all, Looks like there's some good info in these posts, but if I may through in a few questions... How does the promotional process work? What does it take to go from 2Lt->1LT->Cpt->etc.? Is it difficult to transition form Reservist to Active Duty? As a Reservist, will/when I be able to use the GI Bill to pay for my BSN (currently ADN)? Thanks
