Irony regarding cellphone use at work
That's when you make a meeting with your boss & ask to be reimbursed for 50% of your personal phone bill or give them the option to provide a cell phone for work. Tell them your phone is your personal phone & not for constant work use unless expenses are shared. You have that right to at least have this conversation.

Crazy for wanting to go enlisted route?!?!?!
I was an ADN nurse for many years & waited to finish my BSN before I joined the Army. From what many prior & current enlisted have told me, it is worth the wait for you to just finish your degree & THEN come into the military really doing what you want to do as a nurse, along with further educational opportunities sealed in your contract if there is a program you want to pursue, because there is ABSOLUTELY no guarantee you will do anything you have aimed for as an enlisted --because those jobs fluctuate in the wind by their availability & need at that time. Not to mention I have been told by others who have taken that route that they wished they never had because when they were finished with their degree, they were last on the wait list to be transitioned over & were miserably "stuck" on hold. With the exception of one friend who was a "secret" nurse already when he got a wild hair to enlist, did nothing medical related while enlisted, & then when he felt like going back to nursing he just walked into an AMEDD recruiters office & said he wanted to be comissioned in & the process went strangely fast, ha. Believe me, that was a very rare case & he's still wondering how he did it I think, lol. You don't have to rush into a decision. :) Ask for & talk to a medical recruiter & tell them where you are at in your education (because you are already & have been a nurse, you will already be more desirable, whether having had completed your BSN or not) & they will most definitely give you some ideas on working towards what you want. Good luck!

BAMC / SAMMC Living Recommendations
Converse is where I just rented a place. Some live a little further east & they don't find the drive bad. Most people recommend North central to Northeast for housing if working at BAMC. Staying any further can cost you quite a drive because the traffic is unpredictable! Very much so! Don't set your sights on the west or far northwest/southwest end or you will be very frustrated like I am & some others are right now. Houses that are in better areas run in the high 800's to the $1200 range for a good-sized home for a family too. Anything less than that in a house becomes a little scarier in the neighborhoods or location. Apartments here are anywhere from 500-900, depending on how spiffy you want & many of them are EXTREMELY nice! I can hook you up w/ my realtor if you want who focuses on the northcentral/northeastern houses/townhomes if that's the direction you're looking for. I have another contact if it's an apartment you're looking for. Good luck! :)

March BOLC
Oh, sureeeeeee, I'll show you how to get lost on base no prob! lol. I bought 2 pairs Danners at the base & have been wearing the 1 pair around... but am thinking I need a smaller size now after they squooshed down from walking. Hope they're not too big on me now. I might have to double-sock it...no matter how hot that will be

Very rare to get housing on base as anything if you are single. If you are married, better chance. If you are married with children, even better chance to get base housing....however, there is sometimes a "wait" list for even that! :)

If your permanent command station is not Fort Sam Houston, you will be housed by the Army for BOLC, so no worries!!! It's for those who have been assigned here for our first station in addition to BOLC that have to find housing because we will be here 2-3 years.

Yep! Been here 2 weeks. I private messaged you, but didn't know if you got PM's.

You found an apartment already?! I'm STILL looking for a place to live, so I'm jealous, ha! I'm looking for houses though & have a pet, so different parameters I guess. I wasn't told before I came that I would be looking for a place to live BEFORE BOLC, so I was a little screwed to begin with. I'm just blessed I have family & friends here already in case of housing crisis, lol. I start fizzling out with "jogging/running" at 0.5 miles...& then complete the rest with fast walking & trotting....so, yeah, that's bad, ha.

I've been here for 2 weeks & pleased the weather has been pretty nice for SA...just how I had hoped. I thought I was pretty, dang good at maps & then have been having fun getting lost at FSH ever since I got here, lol. As for PT, I am more than likely one of the ones that won't be meeting my PT test baseline first go around, so I've just been praying that I get past the first one w/out embarassing myself completely, ha. I've just had so much to do over the past couple months & dropped my routine because of traveling, etc, between all my work days & so have not been able to get into my normal workout routine for a while....Wahhhhh! I'm definitely not running my minutes...! We'll get through it!!!!! :)

Lunah & TraumaRN! I'm already here, so call me when you get here, ha! I was bounced around BAMC all afternoon yesterday as noooooo-one knew what to do w/ me apparently, lol. And kept getting different answers everywhere. Finally I just started making my own phone calls & found the right person myself. I'm supposed to be looking for housing the next couple weeks, AUGH! Talk about stressful!!! I thought I was going to get to do this AFTER BOLC!

Anyone at BAMC/SAMMC?
Hills & trails: EVEN BETTER!! :monkeydance:!! I get bored with gyms & tracks sometimes...part of my curse of trying to workout with actual motivation, lol. Thanks! I would like to find some nature trails outside of San Antonio for weekends & enjoy those too!

Anyone at BAMC/SAMMC?
P.S. Any good places to run close to either the base or BAMC, because I'm still working on my 2 miles before the 23rd arrives :-S. Thanks! :)
