A&P 1 students,,,, How ya doing?

Published

So how are my fellow pre-nursing students doing in A&P 1? We are in week 6 and are finishing up chapter 9 of Saladin's text, and our 2nd exam should be next friday, but we will find out for sure later on this week. So far I am doing good, Got my first test back and I received an A. :) I am a little nervous about the tissues, I HATE histology, a necessary evil I suppose. Our first lab practical is next week and I am extremely nervous about that. Any pointers besides relax?

We got our first lecture exams back today...I got an 'A'!!! I have earned A's on my three lab quizzes so far as well! We have our first Lab Practical Monday...have to know ALL the bones (their markings and articulations) and joints! I am mildly freaking out...but I know I can do it! Just have to refresh the bones (we did 2 groups (ie: upper appendages, then pelvic girdle and lower appendages) a week since the beginning of the quarter, but he just told us about joints today!! Any tips on remembering joints and type of movement allowed? Thanks for all your help! Keep up the good work everyone! :heartbeat

My teacher isn't making us learn all the bones and that's scaring me. I'm wondering what else I'm expected to know for NS that she isn't making us learn.

We had our 2nd lecture and lab test this week. Passed the lecture with an A, won't know the lab results until next week, but I'm sure I got an A, I think I might have passed with 100% so I'm anxious to find out.

It was on Bones, joints and muscles, a lot of material covered but very interesting. One more lab and lecture test to go and then I'm outta there.... Yeah baby!

I am doing quite well in A&P 1 this semester. I have a 100% in the lab and a 95% in the lecture. I did not expect to enjoy the subject so much, nor did I expect to do as well as I have been doing. I study hard and utilize whatever I can get my hands on that has to do with A&P. We just took our midterm last night in the lecture and I feel confident that I aced it. I haven't taken any "hard science" courses since high school, more than a decade ago. I have my BA in another field and never had any confidence in my abilities when it came to the "hard sciences" so when I had to take science courses while earning my BA I took the "softer" ones. It is thrilling for me to be doing so well now not just in A&P but also in Chemistry!!! I am trying to maintain my 4.0 GPA and have been successful this semester so far. Looking forward to Micro & A&P2 next semester!!! Good luck to everyone taking A&P1 this semester - if I can do it, anyone can. :-)

Good for you! Micro is a lot of fun. A lot of work, but so very interesting. My favorite part was the lab where we got cultures from our environment (water fountain, etc..). After culturing my cotton woven bracelet I had been wearing for a long time, I cut it off and tossed it as fast as I could.

I'm doing better than I thought...I'm getting an "A" in the class and averaging "B"s on my lab practicals. We have 4 exams, 3 lab practicals and various quizzes that we take to prepare for the practicals. We have already completed 2 exams and 2 practicals ...who-hoo...nursing classes start in Jan.

finally things are getting better!! :) an 80 on the lecture test and 85 on the practical

* tests covered chapters 5-8 in marieb!!

A&P is going great, we finished tissues and the Integumentary system. I got a 100% on the lecture and 95 on the practical:yeah:. However, the professor is really great, he gave us a practice test a week before with 30 questions and the answers which where on the test. We started joints and the skeletal system yesterday. A lot of information and I am starting to get nervous. We will not be doing any dissections... whew:D. Practical exams he uses a powerpoint slide, we dont have to look through microscopes.. very cool.

I can't emphasize enough, how much a professor can impact your grade. I bombed my biology class last semester, passed by one point. Studied my butt off and didn't make a dent in my grades. She sucked big time... this class has helped me regain some self confidence.

Hi Rholman,

Good for you...I'm taking A&P1 at SCC or SSC next semester. I was just wondering who is your professor there. If you could please send me an e-mail, that'll be very helpful. Thanks!!

hey, I just tried to send you a private message but it didn't go thru. Do you have a private e-mail address outside of Allnurses that I could send you his name.

Specializes in Peds, Med-Surg, Disaster Nsg, Parish Nsg.
