So how are my fellow pre-nursing students doing in A&P 1? We are in week 6 and are finishing up chapter 9 of Saladin's text, and our 2nd exam should be next friday, but we will find out for sure later on this week. So far I am doing good, Got my first test back and I received an A. :) I am a little nervous about the tissues, I HATE histology, a necessary evil I suppose. Our first lab practical is next week and I am extremely nervous about that. Any pointers besides relax?
I got my mid-term grade today and, after dropping my lowest grade, I have an "A" -- 91 to be exact. Since I've already dropped my lowest test grade (66 on cellular respiration) I will have to make all "A's" on future tests, lab practicals, etc. to keep the "A"...I can do it! :) POSITIVE THINKING AND LOTS OF STUDYING!
The higher the goal, the harder the climb - the sweeter the success! :redbeathe
I took my second exam today over the Integumentary System and bones and skeletal tissue. I actually feel pretty confident about it this time. I find out what I made tomorrow, sooo I hope I did as well as I think I did!!!
Edit: Turns out he already put the grades up! I got an 84! I'm so freaking excited!!!!
It bothers me alot when people in my class, who are going for nursing or radiology which is also competitive at my school, complain about this or that. Get over it. Do whatever you HAVE to do in order to succeed in school. There is no excuse for not doing well. If you really can't do well in A&P, re-evaluate your career choice because it is ONLY going to get tougher from here.
Ooohh, my gosh, I'm glad someone else feels this way. In my A&P class I sit near this cadre of older women who are obviously coming back to school after a long absence to pursue nursing, and they've all got this "I can't believe I have to DO THIS" attitude that drives me bonkers. Every time we hit a particularly detailed or complicated part of lecture, or he goes a minute or two over time, I'm surrounded by this chorus of irritated sighing. It makes me twitch.
I'm doing extremely well - 107% average, highest in the class - because I love this material, because I listen in class, I take great notes, I study hard, I come into lab on my own time to review... and they all just sit around and moo to each other about how HAAAAARD it is and how he goes too FAAAAST. :angryfire
I'm going to be in both A&P 2 -and- microbio with a few of them in the spring... definitely sitting on the other side of the room.
I'm glad to see so many great stories in here, people doing really well! HOORAY to all of us who work hard, study hard, and see the rewards!

Hello everyone, only starting week 3 of AP 1, but so far I think it's going good. I have a very "fun" and informative instructor. He is a natropath doc during the day and then teaches our AP class at night. It is nice to get his opinion on this the "natural" way, not always treating conditions with drugs, and he makes the material much more relatable.
We had our first lab quiz last Monday and I got a 100% plus one of the bonus questions (covered regions (9), anatomical regional terms, pelvic girdle, and lower extremeties)! We have another tonight, but I am scared. There are much more things being covered this time (upper extremeties, cell (labeling and knowing fnx of each part), parts of the microscope, and what we are covering in lab tonight)!! I know it's doable, but I'd like to keep up the 100% scores. :) Our first lecture exam (Chapters 1-5 Marieb) is in a week, along with ANOTHER lab quiz! Hopefully I continue to do well. Great job to you all so far and for those who are struggling, keep on truckin along! Study a lot, take notes, re-write your notes, lables blank models (drawn or if you can your hands on great diagrams), and just review weekly! I know it's a lot to do esp. if you have other classes and have to work or have other commitments, but we can ALL do it! :)
