I forgot to mention that the A & P teacher at my school is awful. I had a really good teacher for BIO 1 and then this teacher for BIO 2 and OMG, he had SUCH a difficult time explaining anything! Also talks in monotone so that is never very interesting...
My only other option would be to drive 60 miles one way to the next closest community college. But, with this winter were having and gas prices, I opted to just grin and bear it.
I start on Monday. I'm just taking A&P and then an algebra class. I started working on my degree awhile back, then dropped, now trying to get in again. I tried to pick an A&P professor that had good (and numerous) reviews. Have had an experience or two with some truly awful professors, and I believe that the professor can definitely make or break the class.
Good luck to all!
Hi, Im Tabitha
Im only taking A&P 1 and studying for the Math proficiency test.
Im not sure what to expect but am really worried about memorizing all these new terms.
If I can do well in A&P 1 and 2 I can apply to the LPN program at my school.
I have 4 kids and living in Michigan have been pretty much wrecked financially by job losses. Im barely able to stay in school and need a job this summer!
Hi, I'm Tammy, and my classes started this week. My school separates the classes into Anatomy, Physiology I, and Physiology II. I'm currently taking Anatomy and Physiology I, and will be taking Physiology II in May.
a. How many credits you are taking next semester? Just 6 credits.
b. What part of A&P 1 you are looking forward to, are you nervous? I'm nervous about the huge amount of work it will be, but I think the subject matter is so interesting that it won't be too hard to make myself study Not like last semester - I did a math class, which felt like torture!
c. How long you have to apply? I've already applied for September 2010. Hopefully I'll get in!
d. Some random thing about you? I'm very phobic of spiders!
Hey, so when does everyones classes start, mine starts on the 20th...wheee@!!
School starts tomorrow, the 11th for us, but my first day of the 3 hour class is Tuesday. I know my attention span isn't the greatest, and I have to do well in this class, so I'm a lil nervous.
Hey guys! My name's Sara and I'm 21, currently enrolled in Odessa College, TX, planning on transferring when it comes down to actual nursing school.
I'm taking 5 hours this semester; A&P lecture & lab + Essentials of Med Term, which is a 1 hour online class. I wanted to throw in Intro to Psych, but I was a bit late enrolling so everything else was full. Somehow I managed to squeeze into my A&P, thankfully, otherwise I would have been royally screwed. This will be my first semester of nursing pre-reqs, so I still have quite a while before I start appling to nursing school, but everyone has to start somewhere, right?
Now that I've got my textbooks, I'm slightly intimidated by the staggering amount of information crammed into my A&P book; I knew it would be a difficult course, but I don't think I realized just HOW difficult it was going to be. Mommy is a nurse, and she tried to warn me, but it was something I really had to see for myself before it sunk in. Now I'm sorta glad I'm just taking 5 hours this semester! I can already tell that it's going to be very time consuming, but I'm ready. Really, I am! I have the coloring book to prove it! I'm reviewing some Bio/Chem basics and going over the chapter outlines in the book already, so I feel pretty good. Just still have those anxious butterflies floating around in my tummy, wondering about who else is going to be in my class, how my professor is going to be, etc. I think it's more curiousity than anything else at this point.
This is going to sound really morbid, but I'm honestly looking forward to dissections in lab. I've always been fascinated by anatomy...I was almost 4 when my mom started LVN school, and my parents have pictures of me laying in the living room floor "reading" her A&P textbook. I was just looking at the pictures, of course, but it's still just as interesting to me now as it was back then!
Random fact about me? In addition to being a nurse, I want to be a tattoo artist someday.

I just finished my first week of classes! So far it's not too bad - we've covered one chapter so far and will probably hit chapter 2 next week/this coming week. Our first test is January 26th, over the first three chapters, I think. In lab we're covering histology - I'm not super-fond of my lab professor, but whatever - I can suffer. Might as well get used to it.
Is anyone else in class? Are you enjoying it?
