So, i am guessing we've all registered for our classes for next semester...i wanted to start a thread where everyone taking the course can come together to ask questions they need help with or just vent or LOL....watever the case may be...so if you are taking A&P 1 in the spring...introduce your self...
a. How many credits you are taking next semester
b. What part of A&P 1 you are looking forward to, are you nervous?
c. How long you have to apply?
d. Some random thing about you?
Lets gooooooo................
Check this thread for some amazing notes by a member.... Polka-dot.(You Rock!!)...for notes on A&P....and welcome to anatomy heaven...:)

i am in a & p 2 but we have our midterm on monday. i am really dreading it because there is so much information. and our instructor slapped us with a crapload of diagrams we've never seen before that will be on the test. we have to do a lot of labeling with no word bank. its hard to pull a million terms out of your head, but hey, what can ya do?
last night we had an exam on the respiratory system. so far, i have 3 a's and two high b's. last night's exam turned out to be a c. the main reason is because there were two different sections that he specifically told us would not be on the exam but they were. so, i didn't study those sections and missed 10 of them...
One of my friends tried to commit suicide over the weekend, so it's been rough. Got a C on a Psych test, may have bombed a chemistry exam...my finals are next week because I'm on the quarter system. Have seven exams from now until then - two today, one tomorrow, four the following week.
Ugh. So much more confident about my muscles practical rather than my lecture exam today. Sucks that I have a different lab professor who doesn't give the "lab lectures" that others get.
Gotta do well. =/ Or I may get a C (or worse).
I have this week off for Spring Break. Its almost over, wish I had 2 weeks instead of just 1 week. Man these muscles, Whew, bones, tissues, cells and everything else from the first half was a cake walk compared to muscles. I'm good with labeling them, its the origins and insertions that I need to focus on right now. Next major lecture exam is not until the end of March so I have some time to pull it all together. I'm glad I had the week off to focus on them, just wish the break was a little longer. I wanted to jump ahead to the nervous system and finish that chapter before going back but not sure if that is possible before Monday. I'll probably still be focusing on muscles.
Sorry about your friend Nokika, I know its hard but try not to focus on it too much.
The song of course
The foot bone con-nected to the (pause) leg-bone,
The leg bone connected to the (') knee bone,
The knee bone connected to the (') thigh bone,
The thigh bone connected to the (') back bone,
The back bone connected to the (') neck bone
The neck bone connected to the (') head bone
Oh hear the word of the Lord!
Dem bones, dem bones gon-na walk a-roun'
Dem bones, dem bones gon-na walk a-roun'
Dem bones, dem bones gonna walk aroun'
Oh hear the word of the Lord
(tune descends in half steps and we retrace the body)
The head-bone connected to the neck-bone,
the neck-bone connected to the back-bone
The backbone connected to the thigh-bone
the thighbone connected to the kee-bone
the kneebone connected to the leg bone
the leg bone connected to the foot bone
Oh hear the word of the Lord
Okay, seriously? sorry bout the song bit, learning the bones is tough as there are a lot. This was my hardest part in anatomy (no pun intended), especially those darned articulations.
My solution, I made power point slides like a quiz. I made slides showing the skull with arrows pointing to parts, I also had a key with answers. I did this for all the dang bones and it took me hours to make. After a few nights of quizzing myself I could name off any bone you pointed at. Wish I still had the file as I would send it to you, took dreadful time to make, but sure worked and well worth the effort.
Actors reheorifice lines, we have to reheorifice body parts. Good luck :)
Anyone have tips for getting down bones? Luckily I have a great start to this semester but seems like bones will drop my grade. Very overwhelming to know all these different kinds. Our lecture exam on them is next Thursday but our practical, thankfully, is not till next next week.
I took it section by section. Break it up into small sections and learn that section then move on to the next.
Use Mnemonics - Look up Anatomy Mnemonics or make up your own -
Label diagrams repeatedly but also spend as much time in open lab as you can with the models. Labeling diagrams is super duper helpful, but for me the only way I was able to tell the difference between the cervical/thoracic/lumbar vertebrae was actually picking them up and observing the differences. But maybe thats me.
Youtube! The best thing invented since slice bread:yeah:
This guy's tutorials were extremely helpful to me. He illustrates so wonderfully. I think I made an A on my practical and bones exam in lecture largely because of his videos. He explains everything so clearly.
Thanks for the advice, I'm really glad I'm not alone in this.
How did your drawings go? I got my grade back today for my first set of drawings. I'm a bit disappointed but I expected this. I got an 86 so I'm not devastated, just a little bit disappointed because I've made As on all exams, practicals and quizzes and lab report so these durned drawings dropped my overall grade down by a point. Its OK though, my average is still an A. I just hate that these drawings counted for so much.

I have to study this weekend for my Lab Exam on Monday it's our BONES Exam. I think I'll fair fairly well. But I'm afraid to overestimate my ability. We do not have a mid term only 4 exam in lab so each is 1/4 our final grade. Lecture we have 5 exams two we've taken so I'm at a B I really want an A so I'll have to study harder.
